Hotel was right on the center of things to see. Left a day early because it got too crowded. It was a special event that only happens every 4 years. Sunday was just on there about to walk around the streets. Not hotel fault.

Tomar is a very attractive medieval city, seeped in history. The Convento de Christopher towers over the city and well worth a visit. The Central Park is beautiful with its river and trees is a lovely relaxing place. Plenty of restaurants all in walkable distance of each other. Further out of town is a six kilometre aqueduct built in the time of Philip 2nd of Spain. A marvel of medieval engineer.

Tiny small place. Clean bedding.
Tiny small place. Clean bedding. Quiet. 15 minutes walk from center.
I had to call a few times to get a reply where the key is.
Kitchenette, but:
No kettle for tea, no kitchen towel. Onky one mug.
No bath mat. Bath towels with bleach stains.

If you take the trouble to walk around Tomar, especially the old town, it is a fascinating place. It has an interesting square where the locals come out to socialise in the evening. There are a goodly number of restaurants, suitable for all budgets.

Beautiful, historical town with massive Templar Castle up the hill. That alone is worth the side trip form Lisbon or Porto. Many groups buses stop for a day but it is a rushed way to experience this place. I think two nights allows for a better immersion into its history. Castle alone takes few good hours, not counting the outdoor area. Great place to slow down and feel the old energy there. Town has plenty of coffee shops and nice eateries. Picturesque river runs right through the middle of town. Totally walkable town with quaint, clean streets with plenty places along the way to stop for a coffee, ice cream or a tasty bite. If you are there on a weekend you might get a chance to get a picture with a Templar knight!

Do not miss the aqueduct on the outskirts of town as you drive in - I've seen quite a few and the only better is the one in Segovia in Spain. This is a double decker that goes for half a mile, in terrific condition. I'm an aqueduct fan and this was worth a trip to Tomar by itself.
But there's more: the Templar chapel in the monastery at the top of the hill above the Praca Republica is one of those places where, just when you are beginning to feel like you've seen enough church stuff, you go holy smokes! I've never seen anything like this!
The town itself is cozy and warm, and it's worth a walk around to all the different churches and along the river. You can see everything in a day if you don't dawdle.

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese...
Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese countryside, Tomar is a captivating town steeped in history and brimming with charm. Renowned for its magnificent Templar Castle and Convent, Tomar offers a captivating blend of medieval enchantment and modern-day allure.
The Castelo de Tomar, or Tomar Castle, stands as a testament to the power and influence of the Knights Templar, who established their stronghold in Tomar in the 12th century. This imposing fortress, adorned with intricate carvings and architectural masterpieces, is home to the Convento de Cristo, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
The Convento de Cristo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of grand cloisters, chapels, and chapterhouses, each whispering tales of the Knights Templar's influence. The remarkable Cloister of Silence, with its serene atmosphere and intricate tracery, is a must-see for any visitor to Tomar.
I spent two nights here on my pilgrimage walking from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela, since I wanted a full day to explore Tomar, especially the Convent of Christ which is just across the river and up the hill from the hotel. It was the perfect place to me, and the grandmotherly women in the reception was a nice break from the typical young receptionist wearing a suit. They were quite happy to advise on where to go to run various errands I had, and understood exactly what kind of state I was in, as a tired walker.
We were driving through Portugal and at the last minute decided to stop in Tomar to see the Convent of Christ and the Castelo of Tomar. I selected the hotel based on reviews and it was a huge plus. Our room opened right onto the main square and was in walking distance to everything. Our room was very comfortable and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious too! If we are ever fortunate enough to go back to Tomar we would definitely stay here again.
Absolutly fantastic apartment with 2 great outdoor spaces that recieve full sun. Furniture, cooking equipment, and appliances were very good quality and the welcome package and cooking staples were top quality and extensive. Our hosts, John & Dani, made check in easy and were right there for us if we needed them, which we didn't because everything went smoothly. The laundry service was a great addition and the location of the apartment is great for walking, or driving, into Tomar.
I liked the fact that the house was really well located and the cleanliness was perfect!
The house is also very nicely decorated and has all the facilities needed either for a short stay or a longer one where you need to do some work.
Internet speed is really nice.
We had originally booked a T1 loft but they upgraded us to a T2 apartment where we had more space for our children.
Really really nice stay. Will for sure repeat when I'm back in Tomar.
Amazing jam in heart of Tomar, very close to everything. The room itself is very comfortable clean and nicely decorated. There were enough space for 2 and luggage. Liked the rituals cosmetic in bathroom, nice touch. The breakfast is amazing, very delicious and good variety. There is also nice terrace on the top with great city and tampliere castle view.
We had a great experience staying at this one of a kind castle in the center of Tomar with great views and a real legacy! The host was extremely friendly and helpful. This was an unforgettable experience and much fun. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again should we travel back to the area.
Location is great, the apartment is very spacious and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with everything you will need, plenty of plates / bowls / cups / cutlery. Dishwasher is very useful, washing machine also handy. This is our favorite apartment out of the 6 we stayed in different areas of Portugal.
When you are walking El Camino de Santiago de Compostela Portuguese, stay here!
One of the best hosts I've had in Portugal - Great sense of humor. You'll feel at home.
Ask about the clothes dryer upstairs with Portugese engineering!
Make sure to visit Knights of Templar Cathedral
I would rate this hotel 10 plus. Excellent location, beautiful room and hotel decoration preserving the building's history, most helpful and kind staff (specifically Joao who was so nice and knowledgable), very good breakfast, comfortable beds. This hotel was beyond our expectation.
Tomar is an incredible historical place to visit. Central Family Palace is the matching hotel. Built as a farm house in the 18th century it is located steps away from the train and bus stations and boasts great views of the castle. It’s a charming house with many original touches.
Staff was super nice. Dorm, bathroom and kitchen were clean and spacious. Best lockers I've ever seen, where I could even store my small trolley AND daypack. Breakfast was also great.
Best hostel I ever had so far in Portugal. Many thanks to the great team!
This hotel is about as perfect as it gets. Amazing location, lovely staff, great breakfast, easy parking and comfortable and quiet room. Also a small pool and sauna. We felt very relaxed and happy there. Tomar is also a great town to visit.
Fabulous hotel, great size room with everything you need. Lovely balcony where you can see the castle. Food in the restaurant was amazing and all the staff were lovely. Easy walk to get around Tomar. We will be back as didn't want to leave.
This is by far the best option in Tomar. Every little detail has been taken care of. The hotel looks brand new, loved the Rituals in the bathroom and the staff is very professional. Best value for money ever.
This is my 4th stay at Casa dos Ofícios Hotel and compared to others I have stayed in Tomar this is the best hotel in Tomar in terms of room comfort, service, location, a unique library and lounge room.
A beautiful space full of air and light. Antônio is friendly and helpful. The location is great and the beds are comfortable. A perfect spot to explore Tomar and to relax.
