The view of Montreux is beautiful as well as the surrounding countryside albeit slightly impeded by powerlines. If you don't have a car, you basically have a private train station as it is just a few hundred feet with hourly service. There is also a separate funicular that runs every 15 minutes but this does require an uphill walk of about 3/4 mile. The house is older but has been nicely renovated and has a storage room for bikes or skis that also has a washer dryer. As with most accomodations in Europe, you do need to figure out the settings for the oven, coffee maker, washer/dryer, etc. but instruction manuals were provided.
