This was my first time staying at a motor inn/motel of this kind, and I was quite impressed at how comfortable it was. The location was also very convenient, only a short walk from a bus stop that goes all the way to Massey University, where I had my conference at. The staff was lovely, I was allowed to check in early as the room was already available for me. The kitchen was also well-equipped, although it lacked a proper cutting board, if I remember correctly. But I didn't have to cook much anyway, so it was not a big problem.

I love how there were electric blankets on the main bed, we had such a beautiful nights sleep.

The Ruapehu Park Hotel is at the foot of a large ski field and volcano at Mt Ruapehu. It is surrounded by two other famous mountains Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. We really loved the family rooms - they were warm despite the cold temperatures. The hot water systems (i.e. the showers) were excellent. Finding the hotel and accessing the car park was also very easy. The restaurant (the spiral) also served very high quality food. The cost of the rooms was outstanding value for money.

The Lodge is well situated to hike in Tongariro National Park. We also really enjoyed the fact that the kitchen was well equipped! We wouldn’t hesitate going back!
