The family helped us arrange a tuktuk in the early hours for the hike up Pidurangala Rock and recommended visiting Sigiriya Rock for sunset, which was amazing. The cottage was comfortable, the pool fantastic on these hot, sultry December days, and the wildlife amazing: monkeys, peacocks, and nearby elephants which we glimpsed in the dark. Best of all was the delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan food, and the kind and friendly family. It is a little way out of the village but this is easily accessed by tuktuk. It is Aldo nice and quiet. Highly recommended.

On a month long trip to Sri Lanka, filled with beautiful places and accommodations - the Cottage holds a special place in my heart. We spent two amazing days here, and later in our trip we decided to go back for 5 more. From the kindness of the staff, the excellent hospitality, the pool that was somehow always the right temperature, the location in nature and all of the life that surrounds it - we had a perfect stay. The gentleman that cares for the plants, pool and grounds works all day making sure the place looks great and the pool is always clean. The chef makes great food, and the Sri Lankan breakfast was excellent. The location is a short bike ride from town, or if you have your own tuktuk as we did it’s about a 5 minute ride. It’s in the midst of the jungle. In our days there we had encounters with every type of bird in Sri Lanka. Monkeys of all varieties. Even Elephants. The near by lake, which you will drive by the signed path to, is a must at sunrise. Walking further down the road into the farmers fields (stay on the road, don’t walk on their crops) will yield incredible sunsets with peacocks calling in the background and a clear view of lions rock. Bungalows are simple, clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. We will most certainly return here in the future and highly recommend it to others. There is more to see in Sigiriya than you think, and a couple of days at the cottage is a great base to explore and relax. Mama, the local dog running around is very sweet. If you’re a dog loving traveler as I am - take care of her and show her some love. She’ll keep the monkeys off your tuktuk 😉

This was our first stay in Sri Lanka, having travelled to this place straight from airport - around 3-3.5 hours drive. It was certainly a worthy decision which helped in preserving a day for other activities. Sigiriya Rock is just around 10 mins drive from here. Used this place as our base for next day as well when we visited Polonnaruwa and got back again here for stay. This is about 25kms from Dambulla caves. Very polite, supportive and kind staff. Neatly managed property with large family rooms. Swimming pool does exist but we did not use it owing to our schedule. Great customized breakfast owing to our pure vegetarian preference. Good portions with local touch. Worth a revisit.

This family is absolutely welcoming, smiling and helpful with everything you need. They prepared a good dinner on time and arrange a Tuk Tuk for us with no problems. The breakfast in this amazing garden is the perfect way to start your day! They also have an amazing dog Leo and are surrounded by many singing birds. Warmly recommended!
