Claudio gave us a wonderful welcome. We were thrilled with our room, which was better appointed and more comfortable than any we’d experienced thus far on our trip. The included breakfast was beautifully prepared, and way too much for us to eat—our second morning, we asked for a reduced version. Our original plan had been to stay just one night, but we extended it to two because it was such a great place to take a rest from the road—and such good value for money. Elsewhere on our trip, we’d paid more than that for far less attractive and comfortable lodgings. Just a block away is the large and lovely Albert Park, where we enjoyed several walks.

The accomodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We appreciated Sue bringing us firewood even while Storm Darragh was blowing a hoolie, causing a local powercut! Loftus has all the ammenities we needed - shops, chemist, post office. The Forge was a convenient base for walking and exploring around Staithes, Runswick and Whitby.

It is located in a beautiful hamlet with a charming and welcoming country pub only about 100 meters away. There are cliff top walks nearby and it's only a few minutes walk to the picturesque village of Staithes. It's also only a few minutes drive to fascinating town of Whitby.
