Wow, what a difference a new proactive manager has made to this hotel. We had previously stayed at the hotel pre-covid on a number of occasions and had seen the decline in the building so where very presently surprised on the improvements that have been made since we last stayed. Refurbished, clean and comfortable rooms, with new carpet, bedding, T.V's etc. The general ambiance of the property was very welcoming as were the helpful, polite and informative staff. Breakfast was buffet style, delicious and hot with plenty of variety and I had one of the best curries I have eaten in the restaurant for dinner one night. The manager was a delight to speak with and actively sought feedback from guests so that he could continue to improve services. All in all, an excellent stay, and great value for money and will be our first choice on returning to England and Kent.

A little gem! I would give it 11 out of 10 if I could. Fell upon this by sheer luck and ended up staying 4 nights instead of 1, we were so comfortable. Can’t understand some of the negative comments on the reviews. The staff are incredible, hardworking, happy, friendly, anything you want they will try and accommodate you, always someone available day and night, really flexible to special requests and caring regarding special diets. They make it like a home from home and the level of customer service is something that is very rare these days. They found me a room with a microwave when I told them on check in that I travel with my own food due to dietary restrictions. Our room was spacious and had every amenity you could think of, bed was comfortable, big soft thick towels. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Lounge area really homely, warm and cosy. Very good breakfast options, pub type menu available to order until about 9pm with some good quality hot food and gluten free options. Really good bar and service. Free tea and coffee 24 hour self service machine plus hot and cold water dispenser. Very good security both building and car park. Residents only hotel so always plenty of tables in lounge/restaurant and no need to worry about who might be coming into the hotel/restaurant. Most of the hotel including the lounge/restaurant has had a refurb/makeover/redecoration. A big personal thanks to all the staff for being so helpful to me during our stay. Wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend. Easy to find and access and plenty of free secure parking. Very fairly priced and good value for money.

The staff are all exceptional and could not do enough for us. The George Hotel is old but beautiful with so much character. The breakfast was top quality and everything served with a smile. I throughly enjoyed my stay and would be back. So loved the history of the Hotel and embracing it, loved it, even the wonkly floors and small doors.

Everything was great. The staff is very friendly, always helpful and always has a smile on their faces. The location on the lake is indescribably beautiful. The lake view rooms are unique. Dogs are welcome in this hotel. There are guidelines, but these are not a problem for dog owners. We would like to say thank you to the entire team for this relaxing stay. We would love to come back. The room was comfortable and reasonably clean. The breakfast was very good and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Parking was essential as our party had two cars. Location was good for the town centre although a bit of a stroll. If looking for a budget hotel in that area then we would return.

Pleasantly surprised at the hotel, good sized, well equipped rooms very clean and in good condition. Beds comfy and had a rare good nights sleep here. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were brilliant throughout, from Check-in, to having drink at the bar, Breakfast, and check-out. Even insisted they carried my bags as we were up-stairs, service far above the 3 stars the hotel is rated at.
