We spent a week here for the snow and it was lovely. The owner is so charming and helpful- he picked us up and dropped us off at the bus stop. He always answered our questions and helped us choose good spots to eat. The place is at most 5 minutes (up a small incline) one of the lifts which will then take you to the main gondola up the mountain. There is also a bus option if you want. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the main street but there are places closer to eat as well (Recommend 寛処 にしお or the bakery close by for breakfast). The beds were actually really comfortable and the room had enough space with a nice view of the mountain from our side! The communal bathing area/onsen (Men and women separate) took us a bit to get used to if you haven't used one before but the onsen was bliss after a day on the slopes! We had a great stay.

Nozawaonsen is an amazing place, and the Utopia is an exceptional hotel. The staff was super nice and helpful, from restaurants recommendations to everything we needed. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The location and even the in-house onsen were great. I would come again!

Great, small, family-run hotel. The vegetarian meals are incredibly tasty and carefully prepared. The hotel has a homely atmosphere and you are well taken care of. Highly recommended, also in the summer!

We had a wonderful stay at Heta in the family room, Kazu our host was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, Kazu also manages a cozy bar below the accommodation serving excellent cocktails and provided us with good company at the end of a long day on the slopes! Bonus features were the use of onsite sauna steam room and onsen every night and onsite laundry facilities We hope to return again next season!
