The river Svaneti was the great place to start our hike from Mestia to Ushguli. We definitely recommend it. It is cosy and clean. The owner is very nice, he took us by car to the shop, because the place is in the calmer place little bit further from the centre, but OK to walk. The breakfast were amazing too.
