Katsuemon was one of the best places to stay at. The main building is around 200 years old and where we stayed is around 100 years old. It's a wonderful experience just to stay at such a "Kominka" (an old house), but it's well-maintained and very clean. The renovated toilet is a bidet one, while firewood is used to heat up the bath. Their Japanese garden is very beautiful. Both Bantou-san (male) and Okami-san (female) are very kind and friendly. Bantou-san came to pick us up and gave us a ride to the nearest station, Ichio station by car. We were worried if we could miss the last train for Ichio station, so we informed them in advance. Then they told us that they would come to pick us up at another station in that case. (We didn't miss the last train.) We were pretty late to check-in, but they both were very nice to us. It's very quiet and dark around there at night, so you should look up to the sky. You can enjoy the starry night! We had breakfast in the 200-year-old building and enjoyed chatting with them until we checked out. It was such a great time to stay there, and we will definitely stay there again in a different season!!!

Super local and authentic , no other tourists for miles 😃. The host was amazing Mr. Diu is a great person and super friendly. He welcomed us by showing how the house worked specially the karaoke and tv system! Then he went above and beyond, he drove us to the supermarket we bought great wagyu and then he cooks bbq and we had a lovely dinner! Thanks Diu !

The concept of the hotel that merges itself into the community. I was so enjoyed staying there and also the time to talk with the locals (but you may need to have some Japanese communication skill, or even you cannot, I am certainly sure that they will somehow communicate with you with their best). Incredibly clean with a lovely bath and very comfortable futon. The interior is a nice blend of traditional and modern features (I liked the tiling details!). An easy walk to both Tachibana and Asuka temples. Communication (Japanese) was clear and responsive.

Beautiful apartment with space for gathering together. My son loved playing with the games and toys provided. Good size rooms. Good kitchen with everything we needed, including a rice cooker.
