Self Catering Accommodation in Tabernas

We had booked a villa some distance away from the arrival airport and decided upon an overnight stopover part way - this was our choice. The ‘farmhouse’ is remote, quite quirky, beautifully restored with delightful original features. Very very spacious, very clean and comfortable. Access to the farmhouse is interesting but well worth it. The owner is a real gentleman, would I choose to stay again? Definately!

I stayed at the one-bed bungalow at “Casa de desertio” for three days in October 2024 on my own as part of a short trip to see the three Western parks (Fort Bravo, Western Bravo, Mini-Hollywood) around Tabernas, as well as participating in some filming at Mini Hollywood. I booked this accommodation as it was very cheap and high up on the list of recommended accommodations in Tabernas. The bungalow is nice enough to earn the three-star rating on here, but with caveats, and I’m also going to go into a little more detail about the challenges of visiting Tabernas solo. The bungalow is at the end of a long winding dirt road in an Andalusian horse farm called PRE Pferde Andalusier, run by Judith (German) and Roberto (Spanish), just outside the northwest end of Tabernas. I got a taxi from Almería airport into Tabernas, and called Judith, who after hearing I would be walking the rest of the way, said Roberto would come to pick me up from the supermarket after I’d done shopping in half an hour. Roberto arrived 45 mins later and seemed very nice, but unlike Judith (who I never met), spoke no English. (It turns out that not many people in Tabernas do.) He drove down the long, winding dirt road into the horse farm and eventually reached the bungalow. Roberto was able to answer a few questions thanks to Google Translate before leaving. The bungalow itself is quite pleasant - one room with double bed (though only one long pillow!), cupboards, decorative fan, aircon, small sofa and TV, kitchen area, and then a separate bathroom with shower. The bed is comfy enough, and the AC unit is directly above the bed. Kitchen comes with some supplies, though I was disappointed by the lack of a kettle, and the cupboards were a bit hit-and-miss in terms of utensils etc (only one butter knife for toast). The bathroom was fine, no issues with running hot water, though the runners on the shower door were both broken, and needed some effort to close.

The apartment was perfect for our needs, it was clean, quirky and the owners was in contact to make sure we was OK and had everything we need. Will defo be using again

you have your own antique house in the very centre of Nijar, parking options across next to the church or in the adjacent streets within a couple of walking minutes, gorgeous little historic town, half an hour driving distance to the National Park and the city of Almería. spacious and clean rooms (tiny bathroom though), antique but comfortable setting; good and helpful instructions (video!) by the owner

Very interesting place with all you can need. It was really great! The rooms are big enough and very well decorated. The village is very beautiful as well.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house near Almería. The location is remote and peaceful, surrounded by a stunning natural landscape. The house itself is spacious and very well equipped, with all the amenities you could need. It has four rooms with eight beds, a lovely terrace, and a saltwater pool — perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. One particularly special feature is that part of the house was originally a cave, now tastefully integrated into the living space in a way that adds real character and charm. Aty and Jessica, the hosts, were exceptional — friendly, attentive, and always quick to respond. They speak Dutch, English, and Spanish, and have excellent local knowledge about where to go and what to do in the area. I cannot recommend this place highly enough — it’s a perfect combination of comfort, tranquility, and authenticity.

Incredible value for the price. Everything was thought of, even a stacked fridge with refreshments and pizza (for a small extra fee). Pleasant owner, comfortable parking, every thing was clean and comfortable.
