If I could give 100 stars to this ryokan, I would do it! It was absolutely stunning experience in Nagano, the whole family and staff are extremely friendly, kind and polite. They receive lots of international travelers and they understand tourists needs. You MUST book dinners and breakfasts with them! It was amazing experience! On a practical note: rooms were authentic, hot water, heater were reliable. Location is superb, close to the temple and delicious snacks. This place is ideal for alternative travelers interested in local tradition and with the appreciation for culture and history: I wish the owners only the best customers!

At the ryokan, the units include bed linen and towels. We had a lovely stay at Nunoya Ryokan. The atmosphere was warm and authentic, the room was very comfortable, and the staff made us feel at home. A perfect place to experience traditional Japanese hospitality — would definitely stay again!

The accommodation offers a hot spring bath, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. Our stay at Kiso no Yado Iwaya was wonderful! The room was cozy, comfortable, and spacious. The staff was incredibly attentive, and the dinner was absolutely delicious — a true taste of authentic Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a traditional experience!

Several hot springs are situated within a 5-minute walk. Everything about this place suited me perfectly! The location, the amazing room, the hospitality, the cafe-style included breakfast & the fantastic sushi restaurant in the same building. The sushi was so good I ate there both nights of my stay. Looking forward to returning in winter sometime.

This is a traditional ryokan and therefore it’s important to assess it on its own terms. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it is a lovely place to stay. The staff were wonderful, our room was huge and comfortable, the onsen was beautiful and the food was outstanding. I loved the traditional yukata and samue they provided, and the beauty products in the onsen were great. The location is very good- an agricultural town with fields surrounded by mountains- but it is next to a road so it’s not the most scenic. That said, it is very close to an amazing shrine that is one of the most beautiful holy places I have ever experienced.
