We absolutely loved everything about this peaceful ryokan—the beautiful grounds, the delicious Kaiseki meals, the relaxing onsens (both private and public), the clean and comfortable room, and the incredibly kind staff. A standout feature was the private dining room assigned to each guest room, which added an extra touch of exclusivity and charm.

Featuring tatami (woven-straw) flooring, each room at this ryokan in air conditioned and has a flat-screen TV. Selected units feature a seating area. You will find Japanese Yukata robes, slippers and a hairdryer in all rooms. Rooms come with a private toilet. Bathing facilities are shared. Everything. The provided kaiseki for dinner and breakfast was amazing. The onsens to bath in were great for the mind and body. Compared to the the other Ryokan's, this place was far more affordable than most and didn't seem to lack anything the rest had. We loved our stay here.

Minshuku Asogen, a property with a garden, is situated in Aso, 29 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, 38 km from Kumamoto Castle, as well as 38 km from Suizenji Park. The property is located 39 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, 8.8 km from Mount Aso and 29 km from KK Wings. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. I can only rate this place as 10/10. It's what you would expect from a Ryokan, and more. Specifically, i'd say two things are better than other great Ryokan, the onsen (private suites with windows that can be opened to "transform" the main room into a rotemburo at will) and the kaiseki dinner, where chu-toro, basashi and marbled beef were on the menu. Apart from an extensive sake menu. Other than that, the owners / team managing it are super nice and helpful. Perfect place to enjoy before/after an Aso trek.

Boasting an open-air bath, garden and views of mountain, Hanare no Yado Hanagokoro is set in Minamioguni, 40 km from Mount Aso. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan has family rooms.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Absolutely gorgeous place: a small cabin in the woods, very comfy and spacious, with a lovely indoor bath. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the dinner was abundant and excellent (the shabu-shabu beef was amazing), as well as the breakfast. We had a really lovely stay and would have loved to stay more!!

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath. Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. Location. Stunning view and atmosphere. Sympathy from the staff. Kudos for Shujan for his kindness and informative interaction. Amazing food experience.

The ryokan serves Japanese seasonal dishes at its dining room, which features an open kitchen. Teahouse Warabe offers self-service coffee. A variety of Japanese shochu liquor, wines and other drinks can be enjoyed at bar Kura. We stayed in Shion room which was really special with a stove in the living room, a foot bath room and indoor bath. The outdoor public bath was really good too, and not crowded at all in the morning. The service provided by all the staff was very welcoming, making us feel relax and comfortable. Really enjoy the stay.

Located in Minami Aso in the Kumamoto Region, 10 km from Naka-dake, Hotel Yumeshizuku boasts a hot spring bath and sauna.

Guests with a dinner-inclusive rate are served a Japanese kaiseki multi-course meal. The main menu consists of a grilled beef on a lave plate. The dinner was delicious, really enjoyed.

Boasting various indoor and open-air hot spring baths, Fumoto Ryokan offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with a historic charm. It is surrounded by serene greenery next to a river. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public area. We had such a lovely stay! The staff were very helpful and kind and we loved all of the private onsens on the property. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic as well.
