Dinner was excellent and beautifully presented, as was breakfast. They even provided my five year old daughter with beautiful meals designed to appeal to children. The onsen was simple but beautiful, with a semi-outdoor bath overlooking a lovely garden. We would very happily stay here again.

My wife & I stayed at Fulsato for one night on a Tohoku ski trip driving from Geto Kogen to Tazawako. We’ve stayed at many Ryokan on our trips to Japan and this was likely the best one. From the moment we arrived the staff was so kind and helpful. We got a room overlooking the river with our own private bath in the balcony. The other public baths were nice esp the outdoor one. The room was well thought out and immaculately clean. The best part was the food! Both the dinner and breakfast were kaiseki style and the presentation and flavors were amazing. The price was higher than we usually pay but it felt like a total value.

The reception was very friendly and even with limited English, they went out of their way to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. There was a shuttle bus to and from Appi Kogen ski resort and the train station. However, these need to be booked beforehand.
