All very clean, very friendly and welcoming. A lovely big Japanese room with clean futon sets. Onsen is not too big but clean and not too busy. The dinner and breakfast were so well made, with all local ingredients, could see and taste all prepared with great care. We also loved the fact that it was so healthy and not too heavy. Coffee at their lovely Japanese breakfast was a real bonus too!

The hotel’s location is beautiful! The room was big and the beds were super comfortable. The hot spring was such a good experience, very relaxing. The staff were very sweet and approachable.

We loved everything! The onsen was absolutely amazing — it had everything: lotions, creams, indoor and outdoor baths at perfect temperatures. The lounge clothing provided was both comfortable and stylish, and added to the relaxing experience. There was a stargazing night tour, a kids’ room, and the staff gave excellent, thoughtful service. Plenty of seating areas, a convenience store right inside the hotel, and a great gift shop — even selling the same products used in the onsen! The dining experience was the most incredible we had during our entire stay in Japan. It was colorful, diverse, with unique small chef dishes alongside a generous buffet, including fresh fruit (which is rare!). Guests could even take food back to their rooms. The location was excellent, overlooking the lake with a walking path that led us straight to the hotel.

Boasting river views, Hacho no Yu offers accommodation with a spa and wellness centre, free bikes and a garden, around 37 km from Ryuzu Waterfall.

They gave us japanese clothes (yukata) to walk around with in the hotel. The futons were super comfortable. We went during the week and there were not so many people, most of the time when we went to onsen we were the only people there as if it was a private one. The onsens were cleaned every day. We paid for the expensive dinner (according to their website) and it was totally worth it. The food amount was also enough and had a good diversity. Staff was very polite and responsive. Moreover, we had a balcony in the room where we could smoke cigarettes. If you plan to shower outside the onsen baths you might freeze to death on the way back to the room from the public bath. (In May). Getting to the hotel from Tokyo was also straight forward but it took some time.

We had an amazing experience at Shikisai hotel. The hotel is beautiful and perfect for calm and relaxing stay. The view from the room and from the dining room is really nice, the hotel is surrounded by the forest and the lake is just 5 minutes away. The food is delicious, Kaiseki dinner was amazing. The onsen is great, and we loved that it is open during the whole night. Free drinks are served during the day (including beer and sake and very good coffee), so it was a pleasant surprise for us. The hotel is situated in calm Okunikko area, and there are many interesting sights around - waterfalls, shrines, embassy villas turned into museums. You can reach most of the sights by bus, but it would be more convenient by car.
