The decor was generally very stunning and stylish in the vintage old yet classy style it was in. The cottages were very spacious and homey. The breakfast was very good! Especially the freshly baked goods and the freshly squeezed juices.

Staff were exceptional - particularly the ever cheerful, helpful and efficient Nondo at Reception. Breakfasts and dinner (on the nights that we ordered dinner) were excellent, and the property has a magnificent view of the Drakensberg 'Amphitheatre' (morning mists permitting !!). As bird watchers we also enjoyed the wide variety of birds to be seen on the property. We didn't use the pool but it is a good size, has an imaginative design, and I'm sure it is quite inviting on hot days. Property is also very convenient for Royal Natal/Tugela Gorge hikes (~15km to Park gate). Just a great place to 'chill' (or be more active if you're into mountain biking/horse riding etc.). Highly recommend.

We loved everything. The lodge was so clean and had all the things we needed. The kitchen was very well equiped . The view at the terrace and the balcony was stunning. We also have to admit that the food in the restaurant was DELICIOUS (especially lamb chops and red velvet). We tried some activities like the kart, massage and some of the surroundings hike and everything was nice. The most important, the staff was lovely ! We have an incredible stay thanks !

The room was lovely and welcoming. Just we like it, minimalistic. We loved the luxury dinner. The setting really helped us celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. So, thank you to everyone we interacted with and made the experience amazing. Compliments to the chef

Excellent location so much to do.

Excellent location so much to do. The views were breath taking. People are friendly and welcoming. Excellent facilities. Security was excellent. No medical facilities near by almost stepped on a puff adder while walking on a path. More information on emergencies for snake bites required. Will definitely visit soon. Overall an excellent and magical destination.

We had lunch at the pig and plough, nice menu - slow service, however, we still enjoyed the food and the venue. The Thokozi restaurant and Deli, good food and a nice variety. Sandra se Winkel was an experience - well worth going to when you are in the area.

The Whistling Goat is an absolute gem.

The Whistling Goat is an absolute gem. The owners are hands on and very friendly. We ate breakfast there twice and both times the food and the service was outstanding. We also ate a meal at SPEIRS. This was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend a visit. Other places where we ate were The Lemon Tree Bistro, The Olde Duck, Moorcroft Manor and The Grind. I do not recommend that you eat at The Grind if you enjoy good food. The service there was awful and the food was not good at all. A trip up Sani Pass is an absolute must!! DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!! We, sadly did not have our passports with us. So, I guess we're going to have to go back for this adventure. Unless you have a 4 x 4 vehicle I most definitely do not recommend that you take the sand/gravel road to Nottingham Road. It is definitely NOT a normal vehicle friendly road.

Electricity cut of many times during our stay due to the switch tripping. Drain clogged in shower. Carpets not vacuumed but only swept with a broom, which was evident in our continuous sneezing upon entering the room. Geyser switch tripped on checkout day and therefore we could not shower in our room. Rooms need to be better maintained and cleaned.

There are several resorts and a number of smaller accommodations in this picturesque valley, a hotspot for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. It is close to the famous Sani Pass, where 4X4 enthusiasts can ascend one of the highest and most scenic trails in Southern Africa. The town has charming shops and eateries, and many of the resorts offer a host of activities, restaurants and outdoor adventure options.

The various accommodation options make it perfect for couples and families. Huge grounds allow you to get away for some peace and quiet if you want, but we did not feel overwhelmed by people and the place was full. You can either go and feed carrots to the horses or take a short drive to one of the many attractions in the area.
