The city was ok. The ocean was fantastic. I could've spent 2 nights there instead of one, but....it was a bit cold when we were there. We ate at a great restaurant called Mayan infusion. Had a lovely trip in Little River for Mother's Day weekend. Although the place we stayed didn't pass muster, this part of the coast delivered, as always, with gorgeous views, great dining, and friendly folk! Caspar is a small village equidistant from Mendocino and Ft.
Caspar is a small village equidistant from Mendocino and Ft. Bragg. It does have a very good restaurant open for lunch and then it's a bar and music venue. And there is electric car charging at the Community Center. It is clean, safe, and cute. There are walks you can take from the village and a beach. Walking the headlands, broiling waters, waves, spouts, awesome nature. Walked perimeter of town about five miles along the bluffs to highway and back. Town has charming shops, museums, well restored19th century architecture, very good restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlors. Mendocino Hotel bar and restaurant closed for renovations. Mendocino Cafe is excellent! Highway 1 has breath-taking world class views; arriving at charming Mendocino is no disappointment. We loved it.
We loved it. We had a third night booked a little further north and my wife wanted to cancel and stay here. We've been going to the Central Coast around Cambria/Moonstone Beach to celebrate our Anniversary in November. It exceeded my expectations. This is our new go to spot. We enjoyed several beaches and trails. I don't think you can go wrong stopping at any of the ocean access points. Visit the Botanical Garden, and also visit the City Park across Hwy 1 on the bluffs overlooking the Ocean. Also the firshermans village below the bridge was funky and full of places to get a bowl of chowder, or some fish.
