It‘s an amazing place in Kisoro. It’s clean, big and cozy. The staff and the manager Ivan are incredible friendly and helpful. He took us for a walk through the authentic Kisoro and showed us the best sunset-viewpoint. He helped us planning all our activities in Uganda and we booked our Gorilla trekking experience with them. We can highly recommend to do this as well. We would stay there anytime again!

Kaara is a truly magical place to stay for exploring Bwindi National park. We were welcomed by Wilfred and his team and then had an amazing and very warm welcome welcome by the local village culture group who performed music and dancing to tell us about their culture! This was the best welcome we have ever had to a hotel! Throughout our stay, all of the staff worked tirelessly to make us comfortable - from cleaning our boots after a days hiking (thank you Moses!) to setting up breakfast on the terrace to watch the sunrise! A particular highlight was a short sunset hike, led by Barnabus to give us panoramic views of the sunset and volcano! Thank you Barnabus - we really enjoyed this and appreciated you taking the time to walk with us! The staff lit us a fire each evening at the fire pit so we could have a drink as the sun went down. The chefs did an excellent job and the food was great! They also prepared delicious lunches for us on the days we were out hiking. Before we stayed, Peter was extremely helpful in sorting out our Gorilla tracking permits - even going to the bank when the payment was delayed and emailing them to us ahead of time! Having the permits sorted helped everything run smoothly for our days gorilla tracking. You do need to print the permits in advance so much sure you do this before travelling! Whilst staying at Kaara, we also did the Batwa Forest cultural experience (booked through the UWA) - we were unsure what to expect from this and were sceptical as it seemed to be a lot of money, however we were so glad we did! We hiked through the forest with some of the Batwa community who showed us about how they lived in the forest as we went. They showed us where they lived, how they made fire, climbed trees for fruit, caught animals and many more things. It was amazing to see how resourceful they were and also how happy and comfortable they were in the forest. I would recommend doing this to anyone who has an extra day after gorilla trekking.

I recently stayed at the Rushaga Gorilla Tracking Lodge in Uganda, just a short walk from Bwindi National Park. The luxury cottage was spacious with a panoramic valley view, ideal for relaxation. The service was exceptional, thanks to the personal touch from the manager, Elizabeth, and her team. The food was a tasty mix of local and Western dishes, including vegetarian options. The lodge’s peaceful atmosphere perfectly complemented the wild surroundings, offering comfort amidst nature. It’s great value for money compared to other nearby lodges. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Bwindi, whether solo, with a group, or with family.

A wonderfull wiev over the lake. We did enjoy the atmosohere by the peacefull place. The food was tasty and healthy. We did prefere the local organic food which was made for us in the restaurant. Also the breakfest was splendid every morning. San was the chef who made tasty vegeterian food for us from local organig ingredients. Peace was the best ever as a waitress, as she was smiling and talking with us . The cottage we had was perfekt with the astonishing wy to the blue lake. We did watch the birds, the stars and we made a wonderfull boattrip on the lake. We had also a trip to a village of pygmis. At the last night we did see a flying star! Then we had the change to hope that we could come back here again! There was also time to make some jogapractising by own. We did read books. We did make meditation daily by ourselves. Also we had time to make watercoulourpainting by us selves of the landscapes. I tried to paint the landscapes which did very much remaind me of William Turners paintings Everything was organaised by a fantastic personal! We were kept so well that it felt almost like at home. The owner Edvard was so kind. He did organise everything for us. It was so nice to visite the pygmivillage and dance with them. Edvard took us to the border of Ruanda. He did help to get trough the formalities. Ores was the excellent guide on our boattrips! Ores took care of telling us how to behave at pygmivillage. He did also tell us very many stories about Uganda. Kampu was the expert to make campfire and drive the motorboat. He was always polite and helpful. Charkotte, the manager, was keeping everything in excellent hands. Always smiling and always helping in everything. With the experiencis of travelling more than hundred countries we do highly recommend this lovely gorgeous place Lake resort! We do both feel like new persons after spending four nights there!! Definitely recommended for gorilla trekking.

Definitely recommended for gorilla trekking. Peaceful, beautiful area with UWA staff offering several options according to your condition: harder trek (rewarded with seldom seen gorilla family) for those who can handle it, easier option for those of us who can't hike far but still want to meet the gorillas. Something for everyone!

We visited first the Ruhija sector where we stayed in the Ruhija gorilla lodge which we did not enjoy. The gorillatreck however was an experience we will never forget. After one day we drove to Rushaga where we spend another night and we were lucky we could arrange last minute permits for the gorillatreck in this part of Bwindi. A whole different experience. We are very glade we did this. Here we stayed in the Rushaga gorilla camp which is very lovely. The restaurant is less cosy, food just Ok and the shop far to expensive but the vieuws, location and chalets make it worth staying here.
