- From US$102.63 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,041 reviewsExceed my expectation. All staff members I met were top-notch, shown genuine warmth, attentive and makes me feel very welcome at all times. I feel this is especially important for a solo traveller, on a trip with a restorative focus. Personally I found the hotel beautifully decorated throughout, both in public and private spaces, with inspirational attention to details. A sanctuary, in the naturally busy center of the city. My chosen room was traditional tatami room with sense of connection with nature and the wood element, which I adore. I also enjoyed reading in the relaxing lounge, next to the mini aquariums and the large tree sculpture. I also enjoyed swimming in the roof-top pool. Again an oasis in striking contrast to the busyness of a city. It might be helpful to note that the roof top pool is not heated: it was just right for me, as an avid cold water swimmer, but personally I appreciate the fact that the hotel keep the pool open for guest during the colder season too. Big thumbs up and salute to all hotel staff and designers at Tree House Hotel.Guest review byJoyUnited Kingdom
- From US$95.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 4,857 reviewsTop location at the heart of the city, steps from shops/fast-food chains and the main train station. Spotless clean with a great customer service. Breakfast is verily excellent (unless you solely rely on Western style, as it is mostly comprised of oriental items...), and the real top feature is the lounge-lobby, a 24 hours space where you can refresh with hot and cold beverages, snacks and even a selection of delightful ice cream flavours! Highly recommended, an optimal value that delivers a great experience.Guest review byEdCanada

Kaohsiung has been , like Bilbao in Spain, considered for long time as an unattractive city, industrial and polluted, boring with no cultural life. These past decades the city has improved considerably, reconnected with the sea, remodeling ancients docks, building concert halls , museums, etc.. It is now a very pleasant city that attracts more and more people from Taipei who are looking for a less stressful life and a better climate. The public transportation is very good and you are close to beaches and hills with a lot of trails if your like outdoor sports. I will recommend a visit to this city for sure.Guest review byJesusSpain - 10.0
A wonderful and beautiful village.
A wonderful and beautiful village. Public transport almost non existence. Better to drive or by bicycle. Taxi must be pre-book, check with owner, travel around in taxi by Ms. Wong and she is knowledgeable and accommodating. Visited in Feb for flowers fields and great weather. Wonderful housekeeper Ms. Wu is always around and helpful. Our balcony room was very comfortable and spacious. Main road traffic do not affect sleep once balcony glass doors are shut. Walkable bakery, local produce supermarket and a hidden delicious local food stall around. Short walk to center of village with local restaurants, bus stations and local open air market. 4 story building with limited rooms, book early. Lift available for higher floors. Good with luggage.Guest review byKok Hong MichaelSingapore - 8.0
With the MRT, easy to move around.
With the MRT, easy to move around. There are wide footpaths for people to walk safely. Some of the smaller local restaurants do not have menus in english which makes it hard to order. Overall, a very organised city.Guest review byCHEOW SOOAustralia - 8.0
We spent three days in the Meinong District.
We spent three days in the Meinong District. A car is really necessary to explore the sights, but buses will get you between city centers. The Chison Night Market and Old Street are fun for an evening visit and a look at the architectural stone building facades from the turn of the 20th century. Hakka noodles and other specialties deserve a wider culinary audience! The Hakka Cultural Center is a small mall of vendors, with few attractions that merit the 15 minutes it takes to walk the site. Surrounding mountains are heavily forested with many hiking options for the fit and adventurous.Guest review byTherryUnited States - 10.0
Kaohsiung is a really cool city with very good public...
Kaohsiung is a really cool city with very good public transport, food, art. I'm sad I didn't spend some more days there rather than in Hualien, where I extended my trip, but it was consistently rainy and many naturalb things were still closed from the earthquake. Kaohsiung has enough size to be a real city with a real "southern" feel. In the day though, it always seems to be crazy sunny like UV 11 - so factor that in.Guest review byDanielVietnam
