We drove to beach but you could walk, it's flat but a bit of a way. Great beach and worth going to. With some TLC the room we had would be brilliant, large with comfy bed, bit rough round the edges, which personally we found fine. Hot water in shower, working lights and TV. Not many accessible plugs, but that seems normal in Panama Hostels. AC worked well. Good breakfast, shame no fruit but hot food choice good. Nice pool, didn't go in but looked clean. The people there were lovely and extemely helpful. We had an old rental car with which it Was Not possible to make the last 1km to the hotel. So we parked before the bridge under the Trees. The Manager of the Hotel drove us later to our car so we could get our bags. They showed me also other rooms for rent in this lodge, but I stayed with the casita I had booked. The casita in the forest was a really great experience: view from the terrasse and windows into the forest. The room was perfectly clean and everything worked. Definitely worth a visit.
Definitely worth a visit. Off the beaten path, but great waves for surfing and excellent food and restaurants. If you want a break from the surf beach La Playita resort (just over the hill/down the road from town) has a protected cove with crystal clear waters and white powder sand. Lots of fun things to do without lots of driving. Venado beach is fantastic. Coucoucrazy good craft beer, great food. Local expats are friendly and share information freely. Beds and shower worked well. Nothing nearby to walk to. I felt overly confined. WORST was the quality of the air in the room. No matter how much you used the AC the room always humid and very musty smelling. Possible mold and mildew issues. The more we were in the room the more conjested we were. Mornings were horrible. JUST NOT HEALTHY. Discussing with front desk was like talking to a wall. Could it be due to cutting in a rock wall to build the Hotel causing water table issues? Maybe no use of AC filters? Hotel likely to make more money by spending a little on Quality standars. Roach problem starting up, Staff was nice and willing to help, Could use more English speakers. SECOND was how poorly breakfast food was prepared. Eggs too cold to eat. Meat was very cold and salted ten times over. Coffee was the best thing. Gorgeous little hotel at the far end of a beautiful peaceful beach. Restaurants in walking/driving distance but the hosts also can prepare delicious food for a great price. it's like turning the clock of time back...everyone waves and goes at a slower pace... if you're a light sleeper take a noise maker or ear plugs there's plenty of roosters in the town it's a small farming Village...if you need big City activities and action this is not the place for you..if you would enjoy a quiet get away with everyone friendly but minding their own business in a sleepy little town this is the place for you!Guest review byLes R.United States - 10.0
