CanadaEverything was lovely and the views from the unit were amazing. Our bedroom was great with a comfortable king bed and great shower/bathroom. Everything was very clean and the hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. We were the only guest so had the common area to ourselves as well and enjoyed the excellent included continental breakfast. Highly recommend The Salty Bushman for your stay in The Catlins.

LithuaniaThis is the best motel I have stayed so far. The unit was new and super clean, fully equipped kitchen, they pay attention to many details and overall it’s just cosy. The manager through the phone was very friendly, the heater was on when we arrived late:) super affectionate cat accompanied us during the morning and amazing red sky during sunrise. Overall very peaceful and calm place:)

The owner is so kind and responsive, always quick to help with anything we needed. The place is spotlessly clean and tidy, and it's full of lovely little touches that immediately make you feel right at home. Everything is really well organised and well thought out, you can tell they've put so much care into every detail. And the view from the porch right in front of the sea is just incredible! I could have sat there for hours just watching the waves. Kaka Point is such a lovely, safe little community, we felt so welcomed by everyone we met, and the Caitlins in general are absolutely wonderful to explore. Close to the place there's a really good pub as well, and the building made of wood and driftwood was such a treat, a real pleasure to see and perfectly fits the coastal vibe. I honestly can't recommend this place enough and I'm already hoping we can come back soon! I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe. The weather turned during my short stay there, but that didn't spoil my walk out to the lighthouse at Nugget Point. Owaka is a small village, it has an excellent Inn especially for accommodation. The village has a small but well stocked supermarket, it has two restaurants and two cafes. It is quiet and peaceful. It is well located for visits to sites along the coast. Travellers just need to be aware that Niagara Falls is a joke, but it is a lovely place to stay. Possibly, Curio Bay around the corner would be a more spectacular place to stay, but Niagara is only a short driving distance away. We used Niagara as our base to get to Invercargill, after travelling from Dunedin. We spend a day visiting Mclean falls, unfortunately Cathedral Cave was closed.Guest review byAAustralia - 6.0

Loads of wildlife to watch- we saw bellbirds, fantail, a yellow eyed penguin, sealions all within a few meters of where we were staying. We walked over to Jacks Blow hole following the doc track beside the accommodation. We were down for a School reunion but have previously visited sites such as McLean falls, Purakanui falls, Surat bay, Cannibal bay, Curio Bay, Horseshoe falls. All well worth a look around. This is some of New Zealands presitine rainforest and home to many bird species as well as the world's rarest penguins - Hoiho - Yellow Eyed Penguins.Guest review bySarahNew Zealand - 10.0

A nice spot close to Owaka for essentials and not too far from Balclutha either. We found some books in 2 shops (second hand) at Balclutha but there was also a "library" fridge just across the road from the accommodation. I only recorded the address which was rejected by the sat nav on my car. After travelling all the way to Niagara we were advised that the address was about 6km back at Waikawa.
