The night life in Restaurants & Bistros is amazing with an enormous range of tastes & styles. Staff , whatever nationality are helpful & fun. Sadly the daytime sights are less so as the traditional part of the city is being overwhelmed with glass & steel black box constructions , typical of "modern" soulless architecture. A great little town with so much to offer. The Blue Pub had great food suitable for all the family's tastes. Everything you could want is available in the town. Lots of activities to do and the Opuke Pools are a must. Springfield is only an hour from Christchurch yet so close to great scenery for drives and many sporting activities including Mt Hutt Ski Fields plus others. Arthur's Pass is a fabulous drive, Rakaia Gorge is beautiful, the drive to Coleridge Power Station, at the back of Mt Hutt is very scenic. The town of Methven is not far away.
