This was my 3rd visit here - this shows how lovely the place is. Unspoilt natural beauty, both in the jungle and right on the lake. They have their own little deck right on the lagoon. Free kayaks to borrow or you can go on a guided tour. I recommend the jungle walk with Jacqueline - a tranquil way to start the day. The food from the restaurant was exceptional - not a huge menu which is great as everything is freshly prepared. The rooms / cabins are tastefully simple. This is my favourite place to stay in Mexico - in fact probably the whole world!!

We had an amazing two night stay! The beach in front of the property is gorgeous. There are hammocks in the water, swings, kayaks, paddle boards, and chairs in front of the water. The rooms are amazing and so comfortable with Netflix, air con, mini fridge, shower with hot water, etc. One of the best parts is being able to use the scooters to go all over town which is included. The property is out of the town but by having the scooters, it makes it easy to go into town. The property is super clean and the workers are very nice. Breakfast is brought to your room each morning and includes a sandwich, fruit, and pastry. It's basic but good. You get one coffee pod to make in your room per day which is good. If you want you can purchase more. Each day they also restock your mini fridge with two beers, two waters and two sodas. They also clean your room daily and the property is kept very clean. This was definitely a splurge for us but if you use all of the amenities it can be worth it.

breakfast was good on both the days. there's always scrambled eggs, cheese slices, sliced luncheon meat (deli), oj, coffee, fruit bowl, bread, jam, butter, amazing corn bread, muesli, yogurt and a toaster to toast ur bread. the views are special here and the waters are perfect throughout the day and early night too. not deep at all so safe for everyone. Alex, a co-owner is so warm and hospitable. I made a video of the place on my YouTube channel: expat trails

The hotel area is extremely well planned - it is designed so that even if you stay here for several days you do not find it boring, and there is always something to do. You can choose from multiple swimming pools. If you like day-time activities you hop in the pool at the main patio, if you would like to chill in a more quiet surrounding - try two infinity pools near the beach. Should you need ultimate-chill-out experience, there are two hot tubs, one of which is connected to a swim-up bar. Hotel staff deserves a separate praise. Everyone is very kind and helpful, and special thanks go to Wet Bar crew - especially Pedro Eduardo and Candeleria Tamay, who represent highest standards of service. Meals served in all hotel restaurants are masterfully prepared and the main Cua restaurant can take you on a great journey through Yucatan cuisine. Rooms are also very high quality and comfort you get there can help you relax as you have relaxed never before. Just be mindful if you like to cuddle - beds are VERY big!

Staff and the hotel were great, and I couldn't say I could find any issues after reading a few less favourable reviews.. Rooms are a good size and very clean and cool. Also well serviced by friendly staff.. I got to the hotel long before my check-in time, and my luggage was looked after while I relaxed in the pool area. I then was offered a room way before my time, and I was not disappointed, infact I may have been quietly given an upgrade. To me, that was staff going above and beyond to make me feel welcome.. There's a small shop for basics, etc, or pharmacy next to the hotel. Compared to more expensive hotels around it depends on your budget but for price this was good for what you really need..

It was an unforgettable experience! It was out of this world. We truly felt like it was an experience for our senses. One thing I can say is that the photos don’t do it justice. I tried to capture it but it’s not possible! You are immersed in another world and there’s so much to explore. You will feel truly relaxed. So many little nooks & crannies. Big kudos to the artists that created this space and the architect of course. And finally a big thank you to the staff who make the stay so enjoyable. Our biggest thanks is to Luis Poot who works as a waiter in the breakfast area Alixa - he’s a fantastic person and we enjoyed meeting him very much!! Thank you Azulik - what a place you’ve created!

It's beautiful and laid back.

It's beautiful and laid back. The streets are not paved, so it was easy to walk and/or take a special taxi that can handle the sandy, sometimes wet, sometime potholes...I loved the 3 Island Tour offered by Casa Astral. We'll be back in June 2026 to swim with the whale sharks. Also, we took the ADO bus to Chiquila' to the ferry to Holbox that runs every hour. If you drive to Chiquila', they had several parking lots for about $5 per day since you can't take your car to the island. Enjoy!

I have been visiting Cozumel for 15 years, for diving. While the people are friendly and the number of good restaurants has increased over that time, unfortunately the reef has been degraded effecting the diving experience. Its is my contention the powers that control Cozumel care more about making money from cruise ships than the environment, local people or infrastructure of Cozumel.

In the 1990s, Isla was less-developed with fewer beach...

In the 1990s, Isla was less-developed with fewer beach hotels. The entire north end was one large beach with unpaved streets, rather primitive and exotic, and the experience was low cost. Over the years the beach has lost a lot of sand due to some severe hurricanes and sand-bag berms have been built out to prevent more erosion. The streets were paved with block pavers and the addition of hotels has brought more tourists. These changes are probably inevitable considering the growth direction of tourism and its economic importance, but it's been more or less as it is now for the last 20 years in which we've visited many times. Compared to Playa Del Carmen which has changed dramatically, and Tulum which now has an international airport, it's kept its essential character by being isolated from the rest of the coast, and is still a great place to unwind, snorkel, and stroll the streets, beaches and rocky north coast. There is a singular charm about the island and it's residents and labor force that ferry over from Cancun, that keeps us coming back and I hope that never changes. The restaurants, to their credit, have improved over the years and that is a pleasant advancement.

My FAVORITE cenotes were at Sac Actun and Ecopark Kantun Chi. Sac Actun requires a guide, but it's not as expensive as some of the other places. The cenote is beautiful and they provide you with wetsuits (which helps a LOT with the cold) and goggles. It was a very cool experience. Ecopark Kantun Chi has 5 cenotes but we bought the entrance that allows you to go 4 of them without a guide. For us, this was perfect because we could spend as much time as we wanted at each spot and they were all so different and beautiful. I loved #3, which was an open sky cenote with a waterfall and #4, which was a really cool cave with spots where the sunlight streamed in from above. We got to see some lobsters there too. Also a very cool feature is that there are kayaks in several of the cenotes so you get to explore them that way as well. Another cool spot was Languna Yal Ku where we got to snorkel in calm water and see so many different types of fish. I highly recommend wearing clothing that covers your arms and legs since sunscreen isn't permitted and you are directly exposed to the sun the whole time. For meals, we enjoyed traveling to both Akumal Pueblo (for some simple and cheaper meals) and Akumal Playa on the other side of the road for some more variety.
