- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 128 reviewsThere is no wonder why this resort is rated one of the top 10 resorts in the maldives year after year. It really is THE BEST in all aspects. Exceptional service and hospitality from Gili Lankanfushi from start to finish, we were greeted at the airport and swiftly swept away to our speed boat that was already waiting for us at the dock. Then we met the staff on the boat who were our first taste of Gili, the guys were lovely. We were lucky to be the only guests on the boat that morning and it felt like a private experience. The guys on the boat even slowed down to show us some dolphins on the way to Gili which was absolutely amazing. As soon as we arrived we were met by a couple of managers, a few staff members and our outstanding Mr Friday, Zubba. Every room is designated a “Mr Friday” inspired by the Robinson Crusoe movie. Zubba gave us a quick buggy tour of the island, and also checked us in to our room early. Here we opted for the over water villa and we weren’t disappointed, the views of the ocean from our deck were uninterrupted and the water was clean and full of exotic fish and baby sharks. The decor was very authentic castaway island vibes and just so beautiful. The hotel does not have a reception, Zubba explained that he was the reception and is available to us 24 hours for any and every request. After this Zubba left us to do our own thing which was much appreciated. In our past experience at a Maldivian resort the host pressured us to book activities and avoided us unless we had booked pricey excursions with her. But this was not the case with Zubba, we felt like we really had a friend here, he was always there when we needed, exceptionally fast replies and he sorted any issues we had with no complaints. At no point did we feel unwanted or annoying, as Zubba was insistent that we reach out to him whenever we needed him, whilst also giving us our freedom.Guest review byNarminaUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,283 reviewsI really liked everything at Bandos! Food was delicious from a-la-carte. Breakfast was all inclusive and offered everything for everyone, every cuisine was available for various types of guests. Local, continental, sweat etc. "Beaches" are all around the island, so you can move and choose your perfect place whenever you go. Pool is in the centre with small bar, perfect to run from the sand if you got it too much. Room was clean everyday, really big, with everything you need. I think this value for money is one of the best in Maldives! I really like side activities available like, ping pong and billiard.Guest review byNeskeNBGSerbia
- From US$1,473.62 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 311 reviewsApart from the location, I particularly liked how seamless and easy the checkin procedure was. The hotel allowed us to check in at close to 7 am, in fact they suggested it. This was really nice after an overnight flight. We didn’t have to complete forms or spend time at reception. The island has its own reef, and it’s a haven for snorkeling enthusiasts. Overall, staff are wonderful and trying their best to anticipate every need (special thanks to Reema who looked after us so well, and to Giyas from the Diving Centre for the unforgettable memories at sea.)Guest review byGabrielaUnited Arab Emirates

Had a wide range of food options so even my sister (fussy eater) had suitable options every morning/evening. We were very impressed! All the staff were amazing and so lovely to us the entire time - special shout-out to Ninni from reception who made us feel exceptionally welcome.Guest review byBethanyUnited Kingdom

Special call outs everywhere: from Thess, Jamie, Pawani and Mary, with Mohammed and Joker, who run an awesome kids club, to Hanu at breakfast, the staff here are what makes this place. Maafushi is, overall, a great place – the people are friendly and welcoming. The weak point is definitely the services. When it comes to hotels, don’t expect luxury. In my opinion, for what you actually get, it’s overpriced. One big plus is that Maafushi gives you more freedom. You’re not tied to a resort – you can move around, explore, go jogging if you want, and enjoy the island on your own terms. You can book trips easily, there’s stuff to do, and it doesn’t feel restrictive.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

One of the most beautiful places in the world. Wherever you look, you'll find postcard worthy landscape. The ocean was very clean, ideal for snorkling and apparently it was a good spot for surfing as well. All in all, a must see.Guest review byÁkosHungary - 8.0

Hulhumale despite being busy like the rest of Male has an airy feel to it with lots of greenery - almost colonial. The East side is quiet for traffic although it's close to the seaplane flight paths - I didn't find that intrusive. The West side has the harbour with the ferry terminal and where the liveaboards anchor between trips. When I was there there had been a lot of recent building work so I would avoid staying there. Lots of options for buying fresh fruit and vegentables if you need and a range of places to eat at different price ranges.Guest review byNigelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I loved the proximity to Male for ease of arrival and departure. I also loved looking at the city lights from afar, whilst being separated by stunningly turquoise waters and the gentle sounds of lapping waves. The marine life in the lagoon was plentiful and beautiful, and I had many marine visitors near my villa at all hours of the day. The snorkelling with sharks-excursion was probably the single best experience, but the resort itself was the star of the whole experience. The quality of the villa (amazing bed, wonderful toiletries from L'Occitane, the view, the constant refill of free fresh water and Nespresso coffee) and the rest of the resort (amazing food, world-class spa) was the stuff of holiday dreams!Guest review byInaNorway - 10.0
We LOVED Dhiffushi!
We LOVED Dhiffushi! A real taste of a local island, the thing that struck us was how quiet and peaceful it was. We wandered everywhere on foot and loved that the roads are all sand. We were there in monsoon season and experienced some storms but they were short and everyone just gets on with stuff. There was some rubbish washed up on the non-hotel beach areas but most hotels keep their areas spotless. Both bikini beaches were absolutely stunning. Would definitely recommend Dhiffushi as a real gem of a local island. As an added bonus, we could not believe how cheap everything was too!Guest review byClannyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I absolutely loved my time in Thulusdhoo - my first time in...
I absolutely loved my time in Thulusdhoo - my first time in the Maldives! I feel I picked a fabulous island to spend 4 days of relaxation and calmness following a busy elective healthcare placement. The island was so beautiful and peaceful. The beaches were so clean, white sands, the water was crystal clear, all sun-loungers free to use and very friendly locals and business owner stalls, businesses, and restaurants. A couple I met whilst away also got engaged on sunset beach with the most beautiful backdrop (a real must to visit during the evenings)! Plenty of places to choose from to eat - from beach bars to evening dining. I went to Juice Bench every day for lunch, the staff were so kind and smiley and the food was delicious and fresh. I also ate dinner at Indulge (10/10 pizza!), Cafe Bandaha for dinner, amazing tikka masala curry and the freshest apple juice! (Breakfast was included in my hotel - Eden Blue - which I also highly recommend!). I took two excursions with Baani Watersports - first the reef shark and stingray trip, which was absolutely amazing! The second trip was the sandbank and turtles trip, again - amazing! The team were very friendly, fun, and ensured we were looked after throughout. They took fabulous photo's of us all on their gopro which they sent to us afterwards free of charge. I also found their pricing very competitive! Getting around the island is easy peasy. I walked every day, it is quite small so can be easily lapped in around 45 minutes of strolling. People were also using mopeds and bicycles. I also received a complementary shuttle service from the ferry port to my accommodation and back which was a very welcomed bonus. Overall, the island is wonderful, the people are so lovely, and I'm SO glad I picked this island to spend my 4 days! I hope to be back one day soon - perhaps with someone next time so I have a companion in the evenings when it's a little quieter!Guest review byLaurenL97United Kingdom - 8.0
It is a really peaceful island with a really nice beach.
It is a really peaceful island with a really nice beach. Beach has almost that resort level quality to it. Island is small, so besides water activities or some excursions, there is not much to do, so for some travelers it might get boring.Guest review byVladimirSerbia - 10.0

Guraidhoo - ferry every day and easy to reach from Male, not so busy yet, not yet ugly concrete big buildings, bikini beach is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. White soft sand with turquoise warm water and sandy shore for fantastic swimming and walking on the sandbar - great for kids too, sunbeds and good cafe on the beach, there are corals and ship wreck for snorkeling and not to forget the shark feeding place - simply amazing to watch sharks and rays - great entertainment for the evening. There are great restaurants with fantastic prices. This island is amazing choice !Guest review byDarinaSlovakia - 2.0

We only had 4 days and picked Huraa because it is close to the airport. A very bad choice. The island is absolutely not nice, full of trash, nothing is taken care of, even the bikini beach was a huge disappointment, dirty, broken sunbeds, only 6 umbrellas. No cafes, restaurants anywhere. The only nice place on the entire island is the Pearl Sands. It is a hotel, but you can pay a daypass to use their beautiful private beach including a very a good lunch. That place saved our vacation.Guest review byanitaGermany - 6.0
