The property owner has been very helpful and friendly, he took us for a complimentary tuk tuk mini lake safari, we get to see crocodiles in the lake near the property with some beautiful species of birds and bats. On top of that, Wi-Fi was very good for remote work. Over all good value for money. Thank you Gayan!!

The best stay we had in our entire trip around Sri Lanka! Just can’t recommend it enough! Very clean room, big clean bathroom with hot shower and an amazing yard with lake view. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast, some of the best meals we had. Lovely host and very attentive with our needs. Hardworking staff - the results are impeccable. Amazing hotel, rooms and pool are better than in pictures. The safari offered by the hotel was very competitive in price and good experience, everything easy and arranged by them. Food was also very good. We recommend to have dinner there. But one of best things was Shuresh, who looked after us the whole time and made sure we were having the best time. In general all the staff was superb (thanks to Hemal Surnga too!). The hotel is worth it to spend more than one night to enjoy, specially if you plan to do a safari.

The hotel is beautifully located. You can go for morning or evening walks around the lake (or with a TukTuk) and spot many animals. The lake is also visible from the balcony. The hosts are amazing. They’re welcoming and very friendly. They organized us Taxis and a Safari. Also they prepared us a breakfast to go for the Safari Tour. Highly recommend this place!!!

The place is beautiful, clean room and bathroom, big terace with an amazing view of the rice fields. The food is also very delicius. The host was very nice and super helpful, she organized the safari tour for us and even prepared breakefast to go so that was amazing. We can’t recomend this place enough. I had a wonderful one-night stay at this hostel. The place is charming and comfortable, but what truly stood out was the exceptional hospitality. The host was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help me. I accidentally left my jacket behind, and she made sure to send it back to me. Such thoughtful gestures made our stay even more memorable. Highly recommend this hostel!

    I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway. The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights. What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home. Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes. In summary, if you are looking for a place to unwind and soak up the natural beauty of Yala, look no further than Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort.     EVERYTHING! The setting, staff, food, room...I mean EVERYTHING was exceptional. This time my trip to Sri Lanka was quick and involved a lot of movement, but I am so thankful I ended my trip at Rate Wild Coast Tented Lodge. From the moment I entered, I felt like I was in a safari paradise. The staff, waiters, and GM were completely attentive and accommodating. While not the cheapest place I ever stayed, I think it was worth every penny. At first, I was disappointed I didn't have direct beach access as I had booked a pool room (and I thought those were only on the beach), but after settling in for an hour and catching a quick sunbathe I turned around to see a giant elephant on its way to my watering hole...they said it could happen...but I really thought the reality was slim to none...boy was I surprised! Besides all that, all the food and drinks were delicious! And, it cannot be omitted...the coastline! WOW! I have traveled the world and consider myself pretty versed in beautiful coastlines...and I have to say, this is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL I have ever has the opportunity to sit and enjoy! The gigantic rocks, the angry sea, and the soft soft...even without at elephant visit I would have been so enthralled by Rate Wild Coast Tented Lodge. Thank you!!!

    Amazing place and service. The room was beautiful, big and very confortable. Pali, Our guide with whom we did the safari was very nice and had lots of knowledge to share. We learned a lot during the safari with him. The staff were very caring and accomodating on specific diet and dietary requirements and the food was very good.     Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    This place is amazing.

    This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

    Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

    We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
