We had an amazing time at Animals! We loved it here so much we doubled our stay because the place is just a dream. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in the "budget rooms" at first, which is just 10 seconds from the pool and dining area. Even though it's called a budget room, it's spacious & very well maintained and has a lovely garden, and the rooms have a large bathroom, a dressing and a terrace. The other days we spend in the double rooms in the main building which are like you're staying inside of a Pinterest moodboard. We got the privilege to meet the Swedish couple who owns the hotel & designed it into an absolute gem. They are just the best people, we talked for many hours & went surfing with them & learned so much about Swedish & Sri Lankan life during our talks. The breakfast included has so many options tot choose from and the coffees are actually the best we had in Sri Lanka. If you would be unfortunate that there is no room available in the hotel, do yourself a favour and come have lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed! Even though we travelled a lot and visited so much nice hotels & resorts, we never had the same experience like we had at Animals! The biggest thank you to Nalin, Samon, Anndala & Arvid for making us feel so welcome! ♥️

The hotel staff, along with the hotel manager and the hotel's four-paw manager, made us feel right at home from the very moment our car pulled up to the entrance. A very stylish and welcoming hotel with really helpful and attentive staff. Madusha, Hirantha and the team could not have been more helpful. Nice large room and a good sized swimming pool. The beach club restaurant and beach are beautifully set out. Overall, a great place to stay for a few days.

Really aesthetically pleasing rooms and bathrooms. Beautiful design! The pool area is great. Breakfast was plentiful and really tasty - fruit salad with oats and yoghurt, eggs and toast, Nutella pancakes, fresh fruit juice and tea/coffee. All the staff were wonderful and very accommodating.     The guest services were exceptional, with every staff member demonstrating a commitment to providing the highest level of hospitality. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of Mr. Sanke, the front office manager, and Mr. Mahinda, the restaurant manager, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Additionally, the water sports activities offered by the hotel were both enjoyable and reasonably priced, with a strong emphasis on safety.

    All sea view rooms and the room we stayed in was very spacious . A few minutes walk to jungle beach. The staff was friendly and even made arrangements to get our meals sorted. There is a kitchen and if we bring the raw materials we can even cook on our own , just need to pay them for the space we use. Over all I enjoyed unwatuna because it was conveniently located too.

    We did not venture into Bentota.

    We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

    Property needs full renovation. Staff needs full training. Needs full cleaning. Food so bad (had dinner & so very disappointed) nothing good to say in any aspect of this hotel. My opinion shouldn’t have any stars

    There are so many locations to see.good peoples are around & very safe are. I like the place & the area.i had great time durig the vacation.I guess that threre is 1km around to the beach & also there is a logoon.i have experience the boat safari at the lake. I wish if i could stay few more days to enjoy.

    A little town which is friendly colourful with plenty of shops for anything you need …only issue is that like every town in Sri Lanka there is a problem with waste ( plastic bottles) There are several resteraunts and lots of lovely cake shops :-) Everything is very cheap ..food , tuk tuk , train ..and clothes are an outstanding bargain to any visitor Overall a lovely place for great holiday

    Great beach, we felt like Robinson Crusoe on the beach, almost just the 2 of us. Visiting Mahdu Lake at 6 a.m. watching the sun goes up. A natural paradise with a lot of birds and other animals. Listening to their different noises. Dining at the Mangrove Cave Restaurant we enjoyed freshest seafood. It was just very tasty.

    My favourite place was the turtle hatchery.

    My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.
