- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 3,172 reviewsIt more than met our expectations. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We barely got to enjoy the wide variety of services this hotel offered. It's a shame we only booked for two nights and had to get up very early to visit everything we had planned. The hotel has four dining options. We had dinner one night at the Japanese restaurant and, frankly, it was very good, despite the initial difficulty in selecting the dishes, which were all in Japanese. Due to our planning, we weren't able to enjoy afternoon tea at another of the hotel's restaurants, as we would have liked. We did have breakfast one day, very early, at the "Capital" bakery/café, where they make many delicious pastries and cakes daily. It was located in the same building, but one floor down.Guest review byLidiaSpain
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 248 reviewsThis was by far our favorite hotel we stayed at during our trip in Japan. The place is located next to a kofun which makes the area so peaceful and quiet. At night you could hear the crickets and cicadas while being in your private hot tub in your private little garden. The room was very, very spacious, beautifully decorated. I wish we had planned more days in Nara, so we could spend more time in this little oasis.Guest review bySophiaBulgaria
- From US$106.22 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 106 reviewsI stayed in the old bulding and had the pleasure to listen to waterfall and frog sounds from the nearby river all night. Very soothing. The place has a great retro atmosphere, clean and nice onsen and great food. On top of that, when I inquired about public buses to Koyasan from near villages, I was told by the receptionist he will take me there the next morning via car. Free of charge. What a service!Guest review byChristianCzech Republic

There were lots of choices at breakfast. They provided a free shuttle to Nara Park and the train terminal. The desk staff were so helpful when we needed to make a collect phone call! I didn’t check closing times of temples and it was hard to determine the last buses back from further out locations. I did end up having a nice evening walk along a riverside to find a train station to come back into town.Guest review byStephanieAustralia - 10.0

Tenri is not as well-known as Nara or Asuka, but the area is dotted with dozens of key-hole shaped kofun, ancient burial mounds. Some are accessible and many are how they have been for hundreds of years.Guest review byBernadetteJapan - 10.0

i liked the Kashihara Jingu and the visit to various burial places of former tenno. on my last day, i visited the Omiwa Jinja; there is an observation hill where you could watch the sunset over Kashihara city. walking around town however, you can notice the signs of declining population and abandoned shops. there are a few good ramen shops in the area if you know where to find them, like Saika Ramen, highly recommended for its spicy flavour.Guest review byGaryIndia - 10.0

Nara is beautiful.
Nara is beautiful. There are two UNESCO world heritage sites and lots of deer. If you are afraid of animals, I don't recommend it. The deer will follow you if you have food and they may try to take it from you if you hesitate or don't gently push them away. They are not, as a general rule, aggressive. A lot of tourists freak out and just throw their crackers. Don't do that. Stay calm. The deer don't want to hurt you, they just want a snack. They don't care for being pet either. Just snap your crackers (200 yen sold at different stands) into 3-4 pieces, hold out your hand flat and let them take it from you. Be aware of how many are around you. They will surround and nibble your clothing. I found this hilarious. I grew up with cows and they will pretty much do the same thing. Use your voice and be gentle. The one day bus pass is really useful. I wish I had more time in Nara.Guest review bySarahUnited States - 10.0
Nara Koen (park) is a beautiful place.
Nara Koen (park) is a beautiful place. Todaiji and Kasuga Kaisha is located nearby. The Sarusawa Ike (pond) behind the Nara Park leads to shopping place. One can spend whole day around Nara. - Beware of the deer, they might get a bit aggressive when offering food. - It gets crowded during on-season.Guest review byLopa
