Breakfast had both Japanese & Westrn options. The pancakes were delicious! Mizuki at the front desk of hotel Taiko went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy throughout our stay. Every interaction with her was warm and welcoming. We were always greeted with a smile. She helped with our check-in, coordinated our transfer to the train station, helped with dinner reservations, lift ticlets & gave lots of great recommendations. Her recommendation to enjoy the hotel onsen was greatly appreciated after a long day of travel. We visited the onsen after every day of skiing as well! Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, but Mizuki stood out in her customer service abilities. She should be the customer service manager. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return & spend more time at this lovely establishment that is staffed by incredible people. We truly enjoyed the ski-in/ski-out location. We did a bit of research and were able to reach it by train and bus from Nozawa Onsen. The team made everything super easy for us from snowboard rentals to lift tickets. The onsen in the basement is so relaxing and a real highlight. Everything was very clean and we felt very comfortable and cozy. We speak zero Japanese but they were very willing to help us with everything. We ate most our meals there and everything was SO good! Myoko is an incredible region of fun, the mountains offer heaps of ski resorts with fantastic runs, lessons, places to dine and sit with a hot beverage or refreshen beer or sake. Its wonderful for both families and those who are daring to hit the slopes for thrills. The hotel shuttles, local buses and taxis make travel from resort to various slopes, very easy. The snow in Myoko is otherworldly.
The snow in Myoko is otherworldly. The powder is unimaginably great and really loved visiting Seki Onsen Ski Area. It's a small, family-owned ski area run by the Inoue Family who are the kindest and most hospitable people you'll find anywhere in Japan. Family-owned and run ski areas are in decline with large corporations buying up ski areas across Japan, so it was a real treat to ski at an area where the snow was perfect and you're supporting a local business. 10 our 10 for Seki Onsen Ski Area!Guest review byAaronUnited States - 10.0

Ski areas vary considerably in the area. Akakura Onsen has absolutely the worst lifts i have experienced in Japan. When they weren't broken down they were extremely slow. On the other hand Suginohara has a new gondola and modern 'high' speed lifts. This was the pick of the mountains to ski for me.Guest review byAnonymous
