- From US$178.76 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 331 reviewsIt was an exceptional stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the space, combining both modern and traditional aesthetics. There were several little nooks that added surprise as we slowly discovered them at our own pace. We were delighted with the showcase of local ceramics and tea, and the welcome tea started us on our little tea journey, the start of a relaxing two days spent here. There was plenty of seating all around the ryokan, to relax, to wait, to medidate, to just stare into nature… A big thank you to all the staff we met, from the station pick up to the small conversations at breakfast. Looking forward to visit again at a different season to experience it anew.Guest review byRuthSingapore
- From US$251.75 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 216 reviewsA unique hotel with excellent service and ammenities. The foyer & shared spaces were charming and we appreciated the warm, friendly welcome from the hotel staff who provided a welcome drink and offered to make us dinner reservations as we checked in. We were escorted to our room, which was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view. We were so impressed with the complimentary cookies which had absolutely beautiful Arita porcelain designs. The location was good for visiting all the sights in Saga that we wanted to see and the parking onsite for guests was handy.Guest review byAmandaAustralia
- From US$145.04 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 577 reviewsThe hotel location is very close to the bus stand (Marou onsen). About a 10-minute walk, Marou Falls can be seen. The Ebino Plateau can be reached from this bus stand, and the glimpse of the Kirishima Mountain range is clearly visible. There are only two buses running from Maruo Onsen to Ebino Kogen. 1st Bus from Maruo Onsen is 8:31, and the last bus from Ebino Kogen is 16:00.Guest review byTitliJapan

Extensive facilities, like a bedrock bath that you don't find everywhere. The food was exceptional as expected, the chef was extremely nice and made us feel welcome. I would recommend to speak a little bit of Japanese to go here though.Guest review byAndreasUnited Kingdom

Fukuoka City offers a lot for travellers who like the city feel, but not necessarily how crowded Tokyo is. There’s many cultural sites within Fukuoka and surrounds if that’s what you like as well. I love Fukuoka. There’s many other part of Kyushu that Fukuoka offers easy access to as well.Guest review byNoel CJ EvansAustralia - 10.0

Yuhoen Fruit Farm to enjoy fruit picking and unlimited serving of fruits picked within an hour. There were Hosui pears, Kyoho and Fuji Minori grapes. Great experience! Kumamoto castle is a must visit as well as to savour horse sashimi.Guest review byEricSingapore - 10.0

Beppu was one of the highlights of our trip. We flew in and out of Fukuoka and while its nothing compared to other major Japanese cities we have visited, Beppu provided us with really good onsens and very good Oita food which we truly miss til this day!Guest review byBTSingapore - 10.0

Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold. Food here is great and the Satsuma Japanese wonderful. Black is a lucky color in Kagoshima thus the my son's Rebnise basketball team wears black at home games. Taxis are always available at stations and it is not far from anywhere. A day trip to Ibuski's sand baths is recommended - on fine days. Plenty of public natural mineral water onsens are available. Shiroyama's has a fantastic view .The ferry ride and Rainbow Onsen on Sakurajima is great.Guest review byJohn CantorAustralia - 6.0

Enjoyed the countryside scenery and driving without toll ways made it more interesting but longer. Get use to paid parking everywhere which is not expensive and ensure you have data roaming for gps. Driving is a breeze, 40klm speed limit max 80klm on expressway. Locals are courteous drivers and stickers for road rules. Google translate for help at petrol stations and elsewhere is ideal.Guest review byDavyAustralia - 10.0

Morning walk along the waterway when there were not many tourists was peaceful and enjoyable. The are lots of small shops on the main street, but might be too crowded to enjoy. The shops close around 5pm. My favorite eating place was Pizzeria Kunugi no Oka; good food and good view of the Yufu city.Guest review byMukPThailand - 6.0
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita.
Not a great deal to do or see in Oita. The castle ruins holds some interest. A very friendly man in a temporary office in the car park helpfully explained more about the castle and it's moats. Could use Oita as a base for visiting Beppu if you can't get accommodation there By train it's only 280 yen and 12 minutes away.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 6.0

I'd strongly recommend taking the time to ensure that the accommodation you're booking is close enough to any specific areas you wish to visit. Saga itself, is simply a township without too many attractions other than a museum, a castle and a couple of short, pretty walks. If you want to see something further afield, such as Arita or Imari (located in the Saga region), be prepared for quite a bit of travel. Even places to stay near these areas are several kilometers away.Guest review byCarolyneAustralia
