The hotel and room felt luxurious despite the reasonable price. The public parking (for a small price) was very convenient right next door. The location is good with plenty of restaurants close by and close to the delightful old town for passegiata watching! Breakfast room very pleasant with good choices of food, healthy and otherwise! We were upgraded on arrival to a beautiful room looking directly out over the temples, simply stunning. Our room was really beautiful and spacious, and the staff so helpful. Pool was a great warm temperature, quite a change after experiencing many cool pools in Sicily! Finally the restaurant, Terrace of the Gods - we had 'front row' seats looking directly onto the temples and the food was outstanding!

FAQs about hotels in Sicily

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.

Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.

Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

The resort is situated in a beautiful location with volcanoe , Mt Etna always in one’s view. The hotel and golf course are worth the some what stressful drive up to it’s location. Hotel staff were professional, friendly, and caring to guests needs. Food was delicious with reasonable rates. Room with a breathe taking view of a plush vineyard. Ok the golf course. Great staff. Course is in great shape. Greens hard and fast. Fairways mostly narrow bordered by old in bloom leaves. Very little water. Only issue of concern was that fact of two free roaming dogs which I saw running on the back nine. Golf staff assured me both friendly farm dogs. I highly recommend the hotel and golf course.

Great location near airport and out of Palermo city. It is right on the beach and off the beaten path. The patios and pools around the property are really beautiful. Had an all inclusive style buffet restaurant and an accessible bar. Rooms were great. The staff were all fantastic also. Parking included on site as well as access to shuttles. The two good things about the hotel are the beach and the entertainment team. The beach is amazing, almost private, clean and with a lot of space to swim. The entertainment team was amazing. The hotel has a lot of activities during the day on the beach, the pool and shows later during the evening The food at the theme restaurants were good.

We loved the food, the walking, the history and the overall vibrancy of the city. Driving into the city via the airport was hectic but once we arrived with the rental car, we used taxis and transit…the only way to navigate a large city any where. The city was cleaner than I thought it would be. The markets and food were outstanding. The people were very friendly.

Trapani was a bit of a disappointment.

Trapani was a bit of a disappointment. Especially if you're trying to compare it to Noto, Ragusa, and Modica, for example. That comparison isn't really possible/shouldn't be made. If you're coming from Agrigento, continue on to Castellammare del Golfo. And on the way there, be sure to visit Erice. It's truly beautiful little place on a mountain. And the views are stunning, too.

Beautiful town, full of life at night.

Beautiful town, full of life at night. Easily walkable, flat streets. Beach is nice and long, with multiple free areas. It's a gorgeous scene with the huge mountains, and lighthouse at the other end. It is definitely more of a touristy feel, as we went in August. Definitely explore up and down the peninsula, as there's excellent beaches and coves to swim at as well!
