I am quite familiar with Mullingar.
I am quite familiar with Mullingar. It is a very musical town with many musical events always going on. I actually went for a concert which I really enjoyed. I did some shopping while there which I also enjoyed. Mullingar is very easy to get around with plenty of parking adjacent to the various shops. On the whole the various shop assisstants were universally warm & friendly - a pleasure to shop there!Guest review byMOIRAIreland - 8.0
Kinnegad was the perfect spot to begin.
Kinnegad was the perfect spot to begin. It is relaxed and has several advantages. It is close to many walks and bigger towns eg Mullingar,, you can bus up to Dublin for the day very easily so no wrestling with the traffic or parking fees. The local pub “Scanlons” is a fabulous place to grab a meal and meet some of the locals (and the apple crumble was delicious).Guest review byMaureenNew Zealand - 10.0

Perfect place to stay upon your arrival to Dublin or on your way out to the airport the following day. Just under an hour from the international airport, so you can ease your way into driving on the "wrong side" of the road and eliminate tackling the adjustment in the middle of the city (save that for later in your trip, my advice) So just heading west for a bit and then off the motorway for just a few minutes and you are here at this gorgeous property. The owners could not be nicer nor more accomodating. Very comfortable rooms, lovely sitting room with a cozy fire going, tea cake served in the afternoon and the *best* Irish breakfast going in ten counties, I swear! I just love the Templemacateer House. Farm animals are the bonus feature, too.Guest review byJulieUnited States - 10.0
We only had a 1 night stay here.
We only had a 1 night stay here. We would definitely have stayed longer. 2 nights would have been lovely. However, upon arrival we were greeted at Reception by 2 lovely people. Immediately we were poured a refreshing sparkling drink and after a little bit of banter were shown to our room. The room opened out onto a small terrace which looked on to the Lake. The sound of the water lapping up towards was so tranquil. The room was beautiful. A large bed with a porthole window above it with the light shining through from the en suite. The room was extremely comfortable. Complimentary Water, cookie, crisps and dark chocolate. Tea making facilities in the room with real milk in the fridge... After we settled in we made our way to the Spa where we had Back Massages booked. The staff here were so nice and after an initial consultation we were taken for our treatments which were very well received. We then went downstairs to the Infinity pool. Such a treat. We had booked the Hot Tub after that. Off we headed in our robes again outside where there was a beautiful wood burning stove. Rhian showed us down to the Hot Tubs and after he filled glasses with Proscecco he left us to 39 minutes of pure bliss. The rain was pouring down but we were in heaven in our 40 degree plus Heat of water. We had our meal booked for 8.45pm. However we arrived early to the bar for a drink where we were shown menus and our order was taken. Once we were shown to our table the food was out in a jiffy. No waiting around here. Our meal was delicious washed down with a Fantastic recommendation of a bottle of wine. Although we hadn't room for dessert our server arrived out with a beautiful treat for us as we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. What a lovely thoughtful touch. All in all we'd a lovely stay and would certainly return.Guest review byMartinaIreland - 10.0
Collinstown is a lovely place!
Collinstown is a lovely place! The Highfield House offered views of the Lough Lene, and the amazing green hills and valleys that just rolled on forever. Breakfast, full Irish as well as vegetarian, were offered. A short drive, offered options for a picnic lunch. A 10 minute drive to us to Delvin to a lovely pub (sorry I can't remember the name). The food and service were great. Collinstown and surrounding areas were easy and safe to get around. Locals were friendly, and happy to offer directions and make suggestions. Next time.....I will stay longer. I loved it. Thanks Yvonne and Paul.Guest review byDeeUnited States - 10.0
Rathowen was central for me.
Rathowen was central for me. I came from Sligo but was attending meetings in Tullamore both days. While it was 47 mins to the venue ,it was a very easy journey and the cost in Feericks was half that of the Hotel I was attending the meetings. I would have no problem recommending Rathowen . I took a wee walk and enjoyed their little park and the little fairy gardens I was fortunate there was no rain 😂. To sum up ,while Rathowen maybe a dive-thru village Feericks Hotel is their little Pot of Gold in the middle that puts it on the map. It is as good a hotel as any 100 room hotel anywhere else . Maybe not as big or as fancy but I always take Quality over Quantity 👍Guest review byAnnieIreland - 10.0

Typical Irish village with great facilities and friendly locals. P.Eagan's bar made me feel so welcome, dog as well. The Greenway at the old railway station in Moate was great for my morning walk. Moate was central to my visit being near to Athlone tracing my Ancestry.Guest review byBower - 10.0

Small town with awesome history, from Sean's pub to Maisies (live music) to the Viking riverboat (we had some "real" Vikings come on board which took the whole ride to a new level! The food in town was awesome, especially the place along the river, eating a great pizza with a beer (or two) while watching the boats slide by was wonderful.Guest review byJohnUnited States
