Best features: 1. Room 2. Host 3. Location We arrived at Achill Island, with a toddler not yet two, and no car, not realising how sparse transport is on this remote island.  But host Deirdre was a godsend. She said she would be at the bus stop to pick us up on a cold, blustery day and she was. And realising our predicament, took us around the first day and offered to do so on subsequent days, even taking us to a pub. Creevagh is a golden and compelling example of why you should always stay at family-run places. Unlike faceless, company-run hotels, where no attention is given to details, Creevagh was like staying in your own little bedroom in your own home, so snug and cosy it was and so thoughtfully laid out. And there was a warmth to it that only wonderful hosts can provide. Along with that, a kind of friendship that develops over a mere few days. It's room-only accommodation, but there are places to find meals right around the corner and Deirdre leaves all kinds of snacks, cookies and biscuits along with the tea bags and coffee. The view out to sea was rather pretty. Beds were soft. Deirdre quickly organised a baby cot which was very helpful. I cannot tell you how comfortable we were.  Achill Island is one of those rare places on God's earth where life has its own unique flow, that modernity has not been able to mar. Thank you, Deirdre, we shall return some day soon.

There is nothing negative to say about this property. The owner was excellent at communicating with us. He made recommendations about stuff to do in Achill. We had the number of the caretaker also. It is so close to the beach, shop and a bar if you want to go for a drink. The beach across the road is stunning and not crowded. The cottage itself is just stunning- beautifully laid out with all equipment, utensils etc required for complete self catering. The house is actually bigger than the impression given in the photos. Loved the half door as you could keep the top open and watch the world go by. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back.

Roisin and Michael were very friendly hosts. When we arrived Roisin offered us a much appreciated pot of tea and biscuits. We stayed in a spacious upstairs room with a sea view. The cooked breakfast was really good, especially Roisin's homemade bread. The unexpected treat was to look out at Dooagh Bay and see a pod of dolphins swim up and down while we ate breakfast. Our hosts gave us good information on local dining options and on various walking trails. It's a great location from where to visit the many sights on Achill Island.

The parkrun on the greenway was lovely.

The parkrun on the greenway was lovely. We did a boat trip with seascape safaris - around the nearby islands and saw birds, seals, dolphins etc. Lots of lovely beaches, some historical monuments and several information boards at various locations around the island supplying local history. Surprising good food. We lunched , then the next day caked at , I think it was called An Dun - gorgeous food and amazing views of Sliabh Mór. We had dinner 3 nights, each hotel and Teds. All very good though my personal favourite was Teds. I would happily go back for another visit - beautiful location for walking, running, swimming or generally relaxing

Keel is a charming beach town with a laid back vibe. We lived exploring the island and learning more about the history. The abandoned village and the Neolithic court and passage tombs nearby are totally worth a visit!

this was a very quite relaxing place near the sea and plenty of walks around the area. to get to other places in the island we needed to travel by car which was ok by us but for anyone out at night which would be taking a drink it would be very far to walk back

Good location if driving or cycling. Food good. Room small for family of 4. Pictures deceiving on website. Staff polite and friendly. Keem beach is a must see, beautiful...even in bad weather! Paddle boarding at the lake was really good fun, lake shallow enough for younger children.

I loved the area, it was very beautiful and quiet. It was easy to find the property using Google maps and once there it was easy to get around. It is definitely easy to recommend going there as it’s a very picture postcard holiday 10/10.

Doogort was peaceful and so relaxing.

Doogort was peaceful and so relaxing. There weren't any shops open while we were there over Easter, which was lovely. There might be more open during the summer. If we needed food we headed to Keel. The Beach Hotel in Doogort was open at the weekend and there were plenty of people in the bar but it closed again once Monday came. There are a few places to eat on the island, Mastersons bar being the closest. There is also a great wee place called Pure Magic which did lovely pizzas. The drive to Keel doesn't take long and has a few more bars and restaurants. If you want a quiet break with breathtaking scenery you're going to the right place. A drive to Keem Bay is definitely worth it but try to go early/late to avoid the crowds. We saw a seal coming out of the water and basking sharks not too far out in the sea.

Easy to navigate even if the roads are not great in parts.

Easy to navigate even if the roads are not great in parts. Some excellent views, and lovely beaches. You can drive up the mountains for outstanding vistas. But be careful as roads can be quite narrow. Weather was good when we needed it to be, but it was very wet at times. Crew Bay Cruise was very enjoyable and well worth a visit. Food on the Island (i.e.Teds and The Amethyst) was very good and reasonably priced.
