We were a bit too early for the check-in and were impressed that there was an air-conditioned waiting lounge with buffet including coffee, cake, juice, soft drinks... nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful no matter in which area of the resort. We really liked that it was located directly at the beach, every late afternoon we left the pool for a little beach walk and enjoyed the sunset with a beer / coconut. We didn't find the beach to be as bad as stated in some of the other reviews. We liked that there were mostly balinese locals enjoying the sunset and not only tourists like in Seminyak/Canggu for example. There was a nice vibe. The pool area was very nice, very clean. No problem to find free places there, no matter when (at least when we stayed there). I had some cocktails there, which were really good (prices a bit under European price standard, but not very cheap). Breakfast was great, fresh smoothies, yoghurts, egg station, waffle/pancake station, pasta, pizza, sushi,you name it. Gigantic. There was an air conditioned area, we really enjoyed :) We liked our room with garden view, the movable door that separated the bathroom from the bedroom was a funny detail and nice for communication (hard to explain for me in English, just take a look at the picture :)) The free-refill of the minibar was cool. Canggu has everything I look for in a Bali trip. Great waves for surfing cool beach clubs all-day cafés amazing food and some of the best spas I have ever tried. The vibe is laid back but still full of life. Everything is super close so you can walk or ride a bike and never get bored. One minute you are in a quiet rice field the next you are in a trendy restaurant or catching sunset at the beach. Don book this hotel. The staff is horrible. The worst is the f&b manager . The hotel is operating without a GM and no one is bothered about guest experience. Don make a mistake staying here! Parts were lovely and the cliffs around the temple were amazing but be prepared for lots of traffic (especially scooters) so it takes a while to get anywhere and the public bits are a bit grotty. Couple of amazing places to eat (eg Nourish) and plenty of lovely massage options - we went to Zahra. We spent two nights at the end of our holiday in this area. It was not for us. The area is dominated by large resorts and the main activities centre around surfing, or hanging out in a pricey resort/bar, or perhaps viewing artifical tourist sights. Admittedly some resorts are very nice and have nice views but it's not really my style of holiday to spend several hundred dollars to lounge on a sunbed on the coast. There are plenty of higher end places to eat in this area, but I didn't go to Indonesia to eat western food. The Indonesian options feel very samey and were better in other areas with more Indonesian diners. Even Ubud with its hordes of people felt more authentically like Bali than this area does. In all, if you want a resort style holiday or are a wealthy surfer then this is the area for you. If you want to mosey around and get a feel for Bali it is not. Jimbaran is very laid back and traffic is not bad by Bali standards. We thoroughly enjoyed the beach and spent most of our time there. We did have a family dinner on the beach at sunset and that was a great experience. We also had a fantastic dinner at an Indian restaurant near the beach. We found a shop in Kerobokan where all the locals went to buy clothes etc, the prices were set and very reasonable if you didnt want to barter for everything Our villa was at the end of a driveway a fair walk from the shops etc, we couldnt find a salon nearby to have a massage. Munggu and Seseh are at the leading edge of the ever expanding Canggu and for me by far and away the best areas to stay. Roads are less busy, lots of very stylish options for coffee and eating but still amongst nature and rice fields - though these are disappearing fast even here! Harder to find accommodation but well worth the effort if you value the qualities that made Bali famous in the first place.
