FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.
Wherever you choose to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of B&Bs, apartments and hotels in Santorini (Thira in Greek).

- From US$179.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 658 reviewsI have to make a big shoutout to this amazing hotel, not only because of the accommodations but also the people running this hotel. Firstly, the accommodations: the bedroom was exactly like the pictures, the beds were so comfy, they were fixed to the ground in the same white material of the walls and ceilings, not making any noise… so beautiful! There was a skylight in the big bathroom, making much brighter than we were expecting! The room was connected with other rooms through a lovely patio where we eat our big and excellent breakfast (from which we could, arrange a good snack for the day!). If there was noise from the patio, we could hear it easily I admit, but everyone was respectful, luckily! The patio was a short stair away from the amazing pool, whit a big area to relax around the pool on those hot days (dreamy really!). The location is really central, from the bus station you have to walk a little bit, but it didn’t bother us (you have the possiblility to ask for transfer if you prefer!) And the sunrise... breathtaking! Everything was so nice; you won’t be disappointed at all! And last but not the least, the personnel… They helped us in a stressful time (a wallet was stolen/lost) and they guide as thought all process, arranging transportation to the airport in a late hour and such a short notice. We are deeply grateful for everything they have done for us. I’ll write here an important tip: if you travel to an island in Greece by airplane, make sure if you have to have a layover, make it in Athens. If your ID cards get stolen, if you have only a layover inside the country, you will only need to go to the police and get a paper (written in Greek). If that is not the case, you have to fly to Athens to your embassy and spend easily almost 100€ a flight (is way fastest than the boat) to go there and take care of everything you need, adding another 100€ to come back to the island. Is an all-day loss. Regardless all the setbacks, we highly recommend this hotel!Guest review byCatarina Isabel MotaPortugal
- From US$384.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 289 reviewsThe location of the hotel with a view of the Caldera is extremely excellent. Picturesque and amazing views from the rooms! Responsive, polite, attentive excellent staff, both at the reception, and in the restaurant and throughout the hotel. They meet with a smile and offer cool drinks to quench their thirst. They help in solving any issues. The rooms are spacious, bright and clean. The bathrooms are clean and have very nice and high-quality hygiene and body care products! Breakfasts are very tasty and filling! Thank the chef! Also, all hotel guests receive a compliment from the hotel (delicious drinks). There is an opportunity to order a dinner, and even a romantic one, in the room or on the terrace of the new restaurant with beautiful views of the sea, the island itself and the volcano, watching the incredible colors of the sunset! Thank you to the hotel administration and staff for their professionalism and comfort, courtesy and good attitude!Guest review byNataliiaUkraine
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 66 reviewsOur stay at this hotel was truly unforgettable. The hotel is a gem right on the beach, which might be the best beach on the island, with its pristine black sand and crystal-clear dark blue water. The large, beautiful pool only adds to the sense of luxury and relaxation. Every detail in this hotel is thoughtfully designed, enhancing its overall charm and elegance. Breakfast was a highlight as well - an exceptional culinary experience that matched the high standards set by the rest of the hotel. Every meal was a delight, reflecting the hotel’s dedication to quality. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, taking care of us with such attention and warmth. They really go out of their way to make sure you feel completely relaxed and cared for, which is something we’ll remember for a long time. This is easily one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at, and we can’t wait to come back.Guest review byMichalSlovakia

On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes of caldera, so it has different levels. On the plus side as soon as you leave the hotel you are on the famous Fira/Oia walk - turn right for Fira. You are on the highest part of the caldera so initially it is downhill, also you are close to Skaros rock which is worth visiting for the views and has a church partially hidden on the seaward side at a slightly lower elevation. As long as you can look to the sea you will have great sunset views wherever you are,my hotel patio was great for this.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit. It's wasn't too crowded either, so if you consider going, do so Early - Mid September.Guest review bySherman SiegeLuxembourg - 8.0

Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. Greece is not cheap these days so you have to pay the same as in UK for meals etc. Wine is very expensive but nice to see that they only sell Greek wine in supermarkets and restaurants.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Liked that it was away from Fira. Fira so crowded. One day 6 cruise ships in Port. We ate 2 nights at Romantica taverna. Traditional Greek restaurant, good food and happy staff. Easy to walk around in you don't mind stairs and uphill. Walk from Fira to Oia 10km, something to do and overview of area.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 10.0
