FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 401 reviewsHe who looks for faults will find them. We are not like that. Our pool room was so good that we had no need to leave it. The hotel has all kinds of facilities, including a beautiful infinity pool. However, we never used it. From the photos it becomes clear why it is so. The interior of the room is comfortable, beautiful and spacious. The bed was big and firm. Santorini is mostly visited for the view. This hotel has one of the best, if not the best view on the island. You are at the highest location and you simply feel sorry if you turn your head because you have the feeling that you are missing something. Our flight arrived quite early (7.00AM) and the staff made sure we got a room as soon as possible. Speaking of the staff, everyone is friendly, smiling, ready to help with anything and unobtrusive. For those who are interested in the maintenance of the pool, upon arrival I watched how the pool is vacuumed, cleaned and the water changed. Also, the pool has a protein skimmer and is heated. So there is no fear for those more sensitive. Also, the room is far from the eyes of the public and offers privacy that most rooms in good locations do not have. The staff has their own small storage room near the room, and sometimes they passed by us, but they did so quietly and unobtrusively, possibly 1-2 times a day. Considering the limited number of space on the island, that was understandable. It is a 20-25 minute walk to the center of Fira and is not recommended for those with weak knees. For those who want good gyros and don't want to walk to the center, nearby is Jimmys Souvlaki with great food. There is also a supermarket next to it. The nearest attraction is Skaros Rock with the remains of the Venetian fortress. There is a sign at the foot saying that it is forbidden to approach. It should be kept in mind that it is very dangerous, however, that did not prevent us, as well as many others, from climbing to the top. These were the most beautiful 4 days of our lives.Guest review byMarioCroatia
- From US$258.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 492 reviewsFrom the moment we arrived me and my partner loved the vibe and atmosphere there. Our room wasn't ready so they let us use the gym and pool area while we waited. After some time our room wasn't ready and they quickly upgraded us to the God suite for the night which was amazing. The view from the resutraunt and food was amazing. The staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is a memorable on and I can't recommend this hotel enough. It is far away from all the populated areas and just relaxing.we also booked massages rhere and you definelty need to try this while your there.Guest review byKingAustralia

It is very expensive to eat out, so you will need to shop around. If you stay away from the restaurants with a view, you can see a big difference in the prices if you go a street or two below for the same food. Bring runners with you as you will do alot of walking and the paths are not great so no heels. Beware of roads as they do not have the same rules (no rules) as your own country.Guest review byJanIreland - 10.0

Crowded with cruise ship visitors but only during mid-point of day. Once we figured out layout, easy to get around. Lots of stairs, so be prepared. All was welcoming. Especially all the tours and guides. Wine-tasting and catamaran tours great. E-bike was a bit more difficult than I anticipated - but probably more about my fitness level - not the tour. Tour guide really looked out for me. Santorini exceeded our expectations.Guest review byKatherineUnited States - 10.0
Kamari is great to visit.
Kamari is great to visit. Nothing is too far, you can get the local buses to Fira, or the airport. I went on a full day tour and visited most places such as pyrgos, tharisia island, hot springs, volcano, Oia for sunset. All very beautiful. You have to trek the scenic view from Oia to Fira- one of the best walks in the world! Every place I ate was delicious. Never had a disappointing meal.Guest review byHelenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes of caldera, so it has different levels. On the plus side as soon as you leave the hotel you are on the famous Fira/Oia walk - turn right for Fira. You are on the highest part of the caldera so initially it is downhill, also you are close to Skaros rock which is worth visiting for the views and has a church partially hidden on the seaward side at a slightly lower elevation. As long as you can look to the sea you will have great sunset views wherever you are,my hotel patio was great for this.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit. It's wasn't too crowded either, so if you consider going, do so Early - Mid September.Guest review bySherman SiegeLuxembourg - 8.0

A village with bakery, gyros place, souvenir shop & good sized mini market. Walkable to Fura though a noisy main road. Buses good too but more value for money the further you are going. Taxis quite expensive so we walked a lot.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. Greece is not cheap these days so you have to pay the same as in UK for meals etc. Wine is very expensive but nice to see that they only sell Greek wine in supermarkets and restaurants.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The small village streets were rustic and lined with friendly shop keepers. A relaxed and friendly inviting people. Hill top views are simply amazing and make fantastic photos. The only issue is when the cruise ships arrive. Streets become over run by time poor travellers, checking their watches and posing for pictures along the narrow pathways leading from the town back to our appartments. Once they have gone, the night becomes peaceful and relaxed again.Guest review byRoberto - 2.0

the location is not what it seams, it is just between the main road and other construction sites or empty fields, with no nice view. Overrated prices on booking.com compared with the reception prices or any other nice hotels even in Oia.Guest review byralucaRomania
