Nafplio – a town straight out of a fairytale.

Nafplio – a town straight out of a fairytale. Picturesquely situated by the sea, it unfolds an irresistible charm: historic buildings full of character, winding alleys lined with lively restaurants, cozy bars, and tempting ice cream cafés. Sitting on the promenade, one can spend hours watching the gentle dance of the yachts on the water while soaking in the pure essence of Mediterranean life. A place of beauty and atmosphere that touches both heart and soul – and one you will never forget.

From here, you can use a bus to reach Kiato, Corinth and Athens very cheaply. It is a beautiful town with nice monuments and ancient traditions. Pleasant city, active nightlife, many shops and excellent cuisine. From the Gulf of Patra you enter the Peloponnese. It is the right place to start a trip to Greece if you arrive by ferry from Italy, either with your own vehicle or simply on foot.

Monemvasia is a lovely village built at the base of an island reachable by a bridge. There are two great spots to swim on the island side of the bridge, on of which is quite sheltered by rocks so we were able to take a dip although the wind and waves were strong. The town at the base of the cliffs and the old site at the top are both charming and worth a visit. We were only there for a night but I could have stayed longer.

Loutraki is a nice place for relaxation and pampering. You could swim at Loutraki beach. Be aware that the beach has big pebbles. It is more comfortable to have water shoes with you. In addition, you could pamper yourself at Loutraki thermal spa. At the beach road, there are many different restaurants, taverns, cafeterias for every pocket.

One of the most charming places I’ve visited in Greece.

One of the most charming places I’ve visited in Greece. A picturesque town with a truly unique vibe. It’s perfect for walking, especially along the beautiful seaside road, where you can relax with a drink and take in the view. There are plenty of small, local shops to explore, and an impressive number of bars and restaurants in a prime waterfront location. The lighthouse is also a lovely spot for sightseeing. The local Mani cuisine is absolutely fantastic. In addition to the classic dishes you'd expect in a Greek taverna, you’ll find regional specialities that really stand out. I highly recommend 90 Moires as a great place to eat.

Olympia town is quite small but has some very nice tavernas, cafes and ice cream shops mostly under shady trees. The Main Street has a string of souvenir shops, some of which are quite stylish. We found a little museum dedicated to the inventions of Archimedes, a good spot for an hour or so.

Wandering through the streets of Areopoli in September is an experience that delights the senses and sparks the imagination. The stone-paved lanes, the unusual tower houses, and the unique atmosphere create a blend of charm and history. The tower houses, with their architecture evoking the age of pirates and local skirmishes in the 17th century, provide a palpable sense of connection to the past. There is a layer of mystery and historical intensity to Areopoli and its surroundings, enhancing the atmosphere and making the experience truly unique for visitors. A stroll through Areopoli in September is not just a walk—it’s an invitation to wander through history, taste the local traditions, and lose yourself in an atmosphere that stimulates both imagination and the soul.
