We were a bit afraid that rolling our two 20 kg suitcases from the ferry to the hotel will not be manageable and considered even a taxi for a while... However, the walk was relatively short, on the pavement although a bit uphill. Our room facing the sea and southern direction was spacious, comfortable, functional and clean. It had a good size balcony with the table, chairs and place to dry wet clothes. We were missing a kettle in the kitchen and the reception delivered it without delay. The room was cleaned every day and trash removed. We could park our rented car safely in the property every night. We didn't use the swimming pool and the bar due to late arrivals from our sightseeing. The hotel is a good choice for tourists who drive a lot around the island and don't spend too much time in hotel facilities. Mykonos is a great island that only exist for tourists. All the workers go home during the winter and the island is desolate. But during the warmer months, it comes alive. Fira is a great town full of varied shops and fantastic places to eat. It can be expensive so plan a little extra money for food though! There are plenty of things to do an see in the town and the public transport to other areas of the island are quite frequent and cheap. Our ferry was cancelled due to severe weather. Naxos Chora offer free cancellation up to 3pm on the day of arrival. I notified the hotel before 3pm on the arrival day that we could not arrive on the island & wished to cancel that night. Oia is stunning, especially at sunset, but in September it felt overrun with cruise ship crowds and influencers. We loved our simple apartment with its incredible views, starry nights, and the local cats and donkeys. Food and wine are excellent but expensive, and swimming isn’t easy without hiring a car or scooter. It's one of the main port areas.
It's one of the main port areas. Easy to get around to other destination. We used the public transport.. the local bus was just perfect.. takes you all along the island, just should now where you want to go and if confused the bus depo has a small kiosk with all information. A useful tip you can purchase a 10 euro pass pp, applicable for the whole day, just hop on and hop off the bus at various locations and see at your pace. We loved spending 6 nights in Paros. We rented a car. It was stick shift. A tad scary for me. But it was doable. Paros has great beach clubs. My daughters booked horse riding one day and then walked to the nearby town. After we met at a great beach club, we had lots of great dinners and sunsets. Fabulous shops. We drove to Leifros one day. We like Paros best. Taxis were outside the hotel. Also there was a transport office two doors up that arranged rides to beach club for us and picked us up. Loved the small town and very friendly shopkeepers/restaurant staff etc. It was very easy to become familiar with the area. The port was very pretty and overall it was very clean in the tourist areas. The bus was handy and ran to schedule. The restaurants were great, reasonably priced, good quality food. Lots of lovely tavernas and bars. The locals are really friendly. Take beach shoes as the pebbles can be painful under foot. Be careful to find out where the rocks in the sea are slippery. The beach closer towards the rock (The Hook Bar end) has a safer entrance to the sea. Dimitris Greek night is great fun, there is an open air cinema close by, too! Great reviews. Glad I booked Imerovigli over Oia or Fira. It was quieter, more affordable, has amazing views and walking distance to great restaurants. Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit.
