The staff were welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make you feel at home. Jovana and Niamh along with Steve were always cheerful, chefs, Gary and Hannah were very accommodating in preparing Ready brek for my son who had mouth abscess and unfortunately couldn't eat. Thank you to Karen and Natalie on reception for making our stay complete. An added bonus was the fact we had a ground floor room with access to the car park through patio doors.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom

The town centre is nice enough, has some interesting buildings. There are 2 stunning old steel bridges and some other references to the era of cool and steel. It's a town in change to newer industries. For city tourists probably not that great, but quite some interesting references to the past. And the surroundings offer different possibilities from hiking (rosberry topping), over history (different Captain Cook references) to seaside pleasures (Redcar, Saltburn, Whitby)Guest review byReimarBelgium - 10.0
We love Darlington.
We love Darlington. There is much to see around - particularly for railway enthusiasts. The valley of the River Tees is beautiful and offers good walks. But note: the picture you show, which is the River Tees, is about 20 miles from Darlington.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Redcar (-by-the-sea) is trying hard to get back to its glory...
Redcar (-by-the-sea) is trying hard to get back to its glory days (before the peers were demolished) with the refurbishment of the town centre. The beach is long and sandy and the sea water clear and swimmable if you avoid the rocks. The promenade is worth a walk, passed the fishing boats and the oldest lifeboat in the world museum. Not many restaurants but plenty of cafes.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The town is not too busy although a bit run down especially near the accommodation. The traffic was not bad at all times for a central area. Did not visit much of the main town area except nearby seaside resorts.Guest review byJoashUnited Kingdom - 4.0

If it hadn’t been for a family wedding, I would not have chosen to visit Hartlepool. The town felt very run down, with many shops closed and little to do. It came across as a sad and struggling area. Unfortunately, we also experienced a couple of racial incidents, which made us feel uncomfortable. If you are a person of colour, this may not feel like a welcoming or friendly place to visit.Guest review bySultanaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Fabulous sands and seascape. Bring your binoculars if you love watcing the ships out at sea. Lovely, clean and friendly place, peaceful, Fish & chips from Church Fisheries but ate on the beach. Also ate at Alessis Italian. Very good but a bit noisy.Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Guisborough is a nice place, its a busy market town close to the east coast. Lovely area for a visit, lots of shops and things in the area. If staying in the area, it can be noisy at night with traffic, so stay on outskirts if traffic noise bothers you.Guest review byKayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

As a Georgian, elegant market town, with the most amazing viaduct running beside the length of the High Street, Yarm has lots and lots to offer. The on-street parking is a real bonus - used to be free (time-limited), but is now very reasonably priced, and still enables visitors to be at the centre of things immediately.Guest review bySimon LillystoneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Staithes is well worth the visit - whether you are a weary traveller, a Captain Cook history buff, or a keen Cleveland Way walker you will enjoy this village. The harbour is interesting. I like the Royal George Hotel more than the other hotels in the village. Nearby towns are Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea - both have heaps to offer.Guest review byPaulAustralia - 8.0
Easy to travel to by car, just off main road.
Easy to travel to by car, just off main road. Easy access to market town of Guisborough, not far from Middlesbrough, country views. Went to Pinchinthorpe for breakfast, approx one mile away. Great place just for breakfast or to set off for a hill or forest walk, small exhibition. Very child snd dog friendly. The CrossKeys isn't in the village of Nunthorpe but is a short car journey away.Guest review byAlisonUnited Kingdom
