FAQs about hotels on Anglesey
A Haven of Wildlife
The small, yet geologically and ecologically important, island of Anglesey is off the north-western coast of Wales. Home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge while he is on RAF duty, the island is known for its rugged coastline, most of which is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Its largest town is Holyhead, set on smaller Holy Island and from where ferries to Ireland depart. Also on this island, Trearddur Bay has a Blue-Flag beach and one of the few Anglesey hotels with swimming pools. Another beautiful beach is found at Cemaes Bay on the main island’s northern coast.
Moelfre, further along the coast, is a sleepy fishing village, while Beaumaris in the east has a 13th-century castle partially surrounded by a moat and looking towards Snowdonia National Park on the Welsh mainland.
To the south-west the elegant Menai Bridge spans one of the narrowest stretches of the Menai Strait, separating Gwynedd from Anglesey. Another bridge makes the crossing in neighbouring Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch – the village with Europe’s longest name, though it’s usually abbreviated to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll which is still quite a mouthful.
Llangefni is in the centre of the island and in its district is Capel Coch, home to the only Anglesey spa hotel, available on Booking.com.

- From US$222.84 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 867 reviewsChateau Rhianfa is an absolute gem of a hotel. It's perched over the Menai Straight with stunning views of the Snowdonia Mountains. There were several sumptuous yet comfortable lounges to enjoy. Our room was very large and beautifully decorated. The bed was big and comfortable with very nice linens. We had a shower instead of a bath, but it was a nice one with high quality toiletries and big fluffy towels. The staff was delightful and attentive. We had dinner at the chateau, and while the dining room was rather cold the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious. We're by nature very casual people, but even though we were staying in a fairy tale castle we felt comfortable and very welcomed. We'd love to come back sometime for a longer stay so we can explore the area a bit more. We'd also love to see the gardens during the summer; the place must be spectacular then.Guest review byArtemisIreland
- From US$94.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.6Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,169 reviewsThe establishment does exactly what it is supposed to do: offer a quiet place to stay in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. It is about a 20-minute walk from the famous train station, crossing the street can be a little risky in the evening but with a little care it can be done safely. Special mention must be made of the restaurant, where the food is really delicious.Guest review byGiacomo AntonioItaly
- From US$187.73 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,476 reviewsThe view of the sea, early in the morning, sitting in the window was incredible. So relaxing, area was quiet, room was spacious, breakfast was lovely. Fresh flowers in the room were a nice touch. Plus the made the bed is made every day and gave fresh towels every day, in the spirit of sustainability, I haven’t seen that in a hotel in quite a while.Guest review byYvonneNetherlands

Holyhead itself isn't a great place.
Holyhead itself isn't a great place. Lots of empty and scruffy building in the town centre, although the harbour area out the other side is nice with the maritime museum. The only real highlight of the town centre are the remains of the Roman fort. The surrounding area including Treaddur Bay is much better for a visit. My evening trip to South Stack was really good, including a surprise historic settlement site across the road from the car park.Guest review byMatthewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Menai Bridge is a lovely town, full of cafes, bars and a variety of places to eat and importantly, lots of independent local shops. The bridge, of course is the highlight, it is a really attractive feature - probably the most attractive bridge I have ever encountered. There are boat trips to Puffin Island which as you probably guessed hosts a colony of puffins between April and August, a wonderful sight!Guest review bySandi FawcettUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Llangefni had everything we needed, including a wide selection of nearly all the main supermarkets! We also enjoyed an excellent Chinese takeaway from the one with the red signage. There is a one-way system to get your head around. It's well worth parking in the car park which gives access to The Dingle - a path by the stream and through fabulous trees which give way to fields and hills, ending up at Llan lake/reservoir. It's worth persevering on the path to see the lake. The other reason is to spot red squirrels although we weren't lucky.Guest review byFrancesUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Ohhhhh....Trearddur Bay is just lovely. Instantly at home. This curved, delight of a bay has everything you need to interest the family plus your family dog. Beautiful beach with rock pools and golden sand beach areas. Perfect for throwing that ball for your doggy friend. Sunsets.....amazing.......rainbows.....amazing. Just stunning.Guest review byAnitaUnited Kingdom - 2.0

We were given a room in the annexe which is usually kept for workers who are in Anglesey. It was a very poor room no storage for clothes small toilet /shower room cleanliness was not good the whole place needs a revamp both inside and out . This hotel is not worth the £450 we paid for 3 nights inc breakfast and your company should do more to check these places out prior to recommending them,we had no mirror in the bedroom no hot towel rail in toilet or indeed any place to put wet towels our stay was a complete disaster and we will not stay there again even the kettle had a dead fly in itGuest review byArchieUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The beach was very sandy and not too busy. It was dog-friendly as well. We visited our friend who is one of the locals so we didn't travel about much. We are coming back a month or so later as enjoyed our stay that much!!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
The shopping Centre by the famous station is nice.
The shopping Centre by the famous station is nice. We ate twice at the cafe there. Service was good, as was the food. We used a local fish and chip shop, and a local Chinese takeaway. It's easy to get around, and handy for A55 to explore further. Close access to the river for walks and for ground level views of the Straits! Anglesey. as a whole, is a lovely place. Ancient origins and magical in places, still.Guest review byGlenysUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This is a picturesque, small coastal town. One doesn't go here to party the night away. One goes to enjoy the scenery, walk the beaches or engage in watersports. There are some nice shops and restaurants.Guest review byKennethUnited States - 10.0
We loved the " feel" of the beautifully decorated caravan.
We loved the " feel" of the beautifully decorated caravan. The space theme in the bedroom with two beds is so tasteful! Outside is a great sitting area and beach toy box. Games and books for youngsters are a lovely bonus! It is situated very near to Benllech shops etc and all is a short walk away.Guest review byAnnUnited Kingdom
