- From US$346.86 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 191 reviewsSimple breakfast but star quality presentation matched with fantastic service. Plus the owners wanted to ensure that we maximised our enjoyment and experience especially given the short time we had to explore in the region. We discussed scenic routes, places of interest and dining places. The owners and supporting staff (Mary & Riann) were extremely sincere in their interactions with us. The chateau’s facade is Georgian in style and yet it embodies a post-modern art house. It was a delight to explore the interiors of the chateau.Guest review byKimSingapore
- From US$131.69 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 378 reviewsThis is a really good and quirky hotel. The rooms are very comfortable. The lace and art in the room we had was unusual and made it different from the normal hum drum hotel rooms that you get in modern corporate hotels. The life size models of animals in the court yards were also fun. We had dinner on the evening which was excellent as was breakfast the following morning.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom
- From US$169.32 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 333 reviewsWe stayed here just for one night on our way to Brittany. The room was clean and pretty - ours was on the second floor (which is good because of the old squeaky wooden floors) with a view of the village. Nice French antique style decor, slept with the window open and it was quiet. There is easy parking in front of the hotel.Guest review bysandraAustralia

A hotel on the waterfront, Hotel Maxime, a lovely old, quaint, medieval town with quality shops, a delicious meal at Chez Maxim, altogether a delightful stay. We were only there for one night but wished we’d been able to stay longer and explore more. A town to be recommended😄😄Guest review bydavidSpain - 10.0

Sens is a lovely little city with a fabulous medieval cathedral. Sens seems to be overlooked by travellers but there is planty to see and do, lots of good restaurants, and a very helpful Tourist Office. The city is also very clean, well laid out with plenty of treesGuest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy.
Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy. It is immersed in beautiful countryside, and is of a manageable size for walking around, sampling the shops, cafes, and restaurants, and enjoying the Burgundian architecture. It is quiet in May. It can be a nice base for a few days to adventure to nearby sites such as Vezelay and the Bazoche chateau.Guest review byMatthewUnited States - 6.0

Chablis seemed to be a town where people come to have an expensive meal and drink some fine wine. The town did not have many or any bistros, only high end restaurants that were totally booked on the night we were in town. Hence our dinner consisted of a charcuterie board at a local bar. I highly recommend reserving dinner in advance before visiting this town.Guest review byGregoryUnited States - 10.0
Vézelay is a crazy place.
Vézelay is a crazy place. It is hyped up in every tourist guide on the Bourgogne you can find, but it is actually a one street village on the top of a mountain whose only attraction is an oversized cathedral on the Way of St. James, and some tourist shops for decorative arts (if you like that). Rural exodus is unmistakable, there are several buildings for sale, and the ladies who run the hotel where we stayed told us that the village has only 70 regular inhabitants left, the rest are pilgrims and tourists. We only stayed for one night, passing through on our way back home, and for us it was perfect as it was. The hotel (Les Glycines) was great, very recommendable, the surrounding landscape is beautiful and possibly nice to explore wandering (we didn't try). Vézelay also seems to be a hot spot for pilgrims who find company there.Guest review bySusanneGermany - 6.0

Tonnerre as a town or destination offers almost nothing - it has the Fosse and an interesting old church, but that's it. However, it is close to other towns such as Auxerre, Chablis, and attractions such as Chateau Tanlay.Guest review byChristopherFrance - 10.0

A lovely little town on the river Yonne, great for a weekend, but equally there is lots to fill a longer stay. Close enough to Paris and also plenty of other interesting locations within striking distance. Joigny is a bit of a hidden jewel in my opinion.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely walks down by the river and up to the church.
Lovely walks down by the river and up to the church. Walking down was easier but taking time to walk up is the answer. Some excellent restaurants and bars. Nice atmosphere in the town and we didn’t feel on edge at all. Some pleasant shops to browse.Guest review byJanetUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We felt Sens was a lovely town, lots to do, places to eat and drink and plenty of culture, parcs and gardens. We found a lovely mix of people living there and also visiting like us. Local activities were plentiful, from a beer festival to the very good Saturday food market which offered voucher incentives. We loved the atmosphere from the Tabacs to the bistro which offered lovely food. The tourist information centre was very helpful and we hired bicycles, which was fun exploring along the river Yonne. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the nightly starling murmurations.Guest review byAnnie - 10.0
