FranceSuch a wonderful place for a quiet retreat just right next to a none touristic beach.
The wood cabins are beautifully made, confortable, in a wonderful and huge garden where we could observe many birds or monkeys. Falling asleep with the sounds of the forest was the best experience.
Breakfasts are made with local ingredients, chocolate and coffee came from the garden : perfect !
We also enjoyed a very special tour with some explanations about the medicinal plants of the garden by Fernando.
A little paradise ! Hope we could have stayed more than 4 nights.

The location, in a peaceful garden close to Play Negra was fantastic. The array of birds and wildlife in a relatively small area was staggering. There are just a few apartments spread out amongst the grounds yet we saw over twenty species of birds in a couple of hours including toucans, hummingbirds and Montezuma oropendula. We also saw a mother and baby sloth in the tree above our room, howler monkeys, agouti and frogs!
It's an easy walk to the national park and there's lots of restaurants within walking distance. The food truck close by was particularly tasty. There's also a large new looking supermarket nearby.
The accommodation itself was great value for money. Having the outside sitting area meant we could still enjoy the wildlife when it was raining. We had a kettle, coffee maker and a small fridge as well as basic eating utensils, so it was perfect for preparing simple cold meals. The accommodation was very clean and smelt fresh which can be hard to maintain in the humid environment. The provision of a hammock and drying rack was appreciated. We also noticed they were doing some little renovations and taking steps to keep the place nice.
Communication was warm and easy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.
Overall Cahuita was fantastic.

We loved it here so much we extended our stay from 3 to 8 nights. There is a lovely atmosphere here and the hosts were very welcoming. I had injured my foot when I arrived. Kim gave me some cream for it and helped me to get an xray for it.
The proximity to the national park is awesome. We went most days and then spent the late afternoons relaxing in the pool. The kitchen is clean and well equipped. There are various comfortable seating options in the common area indoors and outdoors. The bedrooms are spacious and there is shelving and hanging space for clothes. The AC worked perfectly and hot shower was a luxury we haven't had for many weeks.
Kim is very knowledgeable about activities in the area as well as where is best to spot wildlife in cahuita and in the national park. Our stay here made us fall in love with Cahuita and it was definitely a highlight of our Costa Rica trip.

Absolutely lovely accommodation! The garden is so beautiful, it’s like a small paradise where you can spot a lot of birds and other animals. The lodges are amazing, very spacious and cozy. The bed was very comfortable and they keep everything nice and clean for you. But we loved the deck the most. Just to sit there and be surrounded by nature is all you need.
The hosts Werner and Zindi are the kindest and their kids are adorable.
They make you feel really welcome.
We also really enjoyed the pool, the breakfast is a must try and we loved how safe it all felt.
Like a small and friendly community.
If you want to visit Cahuita, this is the place you want to stay!

The perfect place to stay in Cahuita. Anett already provided lots of valuable support during the planning stage of our trip and made organizing easy for us. It was a pleasure to stay in her well-equipped garden apartment, where she was highly attentive to her guests' needs and always ready to help. A big thank you to Anett and her husband for their hospitality and for making our stay in Cahuita so enjoyable (including listening to distant howler monkey sounds in the early morning)! We would return any time. Highly recommended.

The bathrooms were fantastic. A Big shower in the bedroom that worked perfectly with good pressure and temperature. The kitchen had everything we needed. The whole property was clean, well built and well maintained. It was nice and quiet and only a very short walk into town. Valentina was very helpful and friendly. She answered all questions we had and gave us a little map to use for getting around town. She gave us good recommendations where to eat and where we should visit while there.

Everything - the place is just amazing. A little oasis of peace in the jungle. Very close to everything, shops, restaurants, Cahuita NP etc...The hosts are very friendly, they even provided us with clean towels and bed sheets. There is a kitchen which is very handy. We saw a big group of Howler Monkeys just outside of our bungalow and they gave us a morning spectacular show. If we ever come back to Cahuita, we will definitely stay at this place again.

Hotel has an an amazing garden with sloth, lizards and tones of different animals with beautiful plants, two swimming pools. in the garden there were many places with hammocks and hanging chairs that gave the opportunity to relax and hide from people. The rooms are comfortable, big with and clean bathrooms. The service was incredibly helpful, nice and discreet.

we had the best time at Piscina Natural on the Sea. great location right on the water and the piscinas . you can hear the waves at night :) Patty and Jennifer were great hosts, very friendly and attentive to your needs. place is clean with a nice shared kitchen if you want to cook . we absolutely love the relaxed vibe and will definitely come back

Snorkeling only allowed by tour, many fish but the coral wasn't very colorful

Costa Rica, for those who prefer nature as a concept not to be endured too long, and with minimal discomfort.
I can't speak to other parts of the country but the Caribbean coast is not a place for real travelers. Go to Honduras or Guatemala instead.

The area in Cahuita we stayed at was ok, I wouldn't go back. But we visited Puerto Viejo, that town is definitely great. Lots going on there, beautiful beaches, lots of restaurants, etc. A happy place. But not Cahuita.
