The staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable, I didn’t want to leave. It stated there was an iron and hairdryer in the room but there was not. However it was no problem for staff to provide them though once asked. The breakfast was also great, and the pool area had great views. You do have to make a reservation for a pool bed as there are only 6. It does have parking which is handy, it is very small/tight area so be mindful.

The host, Jairo, was very friendly and hospitable. Despite the language barrier (we don't speak Spanish), he made sure to spend time visiting with us (using Google translate) and making us feel welcome. His place is very cute and well cared for. He gave us wristbands that allowed us to access the beach through the Hotel Pradomar, where we ate an excellent dinner.

The hotel is a hidden gem in a town locates between the cities of Barranquilla and Cartagena. Service is outstanding. It has spa available and food is amazing. The design of the common areas and the rooms are well aligned with the environment and adult style stay. Totally recommend it. Great that it has limits on noise, so you can actually rest when needed.

What a beautiful hotel! A true gem. Great location, very secure, lovely architecture, lots of history. The staff was very attentive and kind, breakfast was delicious, the bed was super comfortable and the sheets were super soft. We stayed in many places in Barranquilla but this has become my favorite place. We’ll be sure to return.

Excellent location, close to a shopping mall, and the carnival. Excellent wifi, good breakfast, clean room. Although the staff don't speak English (and I don't speak much Spanish) we comunicated via Google translate. The only downside was that it was right in the middle of carnival celebrations, with very loud music most nights, and the road cordoned off several days, as the bar next door had events in the street, but I haven't marked the hotel down for this, because it's probably not like that outside of carnival! On the plus side we were given free wristbands to join the parties next door. The price was high for carnival, but all hotels in Baranquilla put their prices up for carnival.

The rooms provide complete comfort. My suite is very convenient for what I need, the bedroom being separated from the living room allowed me to use the living room area to get some work done very comfortably. It’s also very convenient if you’re going to receive a visitor; no feeling of being confined in a small room. Great design concept for a hotel. It feels more like being in an apartment rather than being in a hotel room.

Eventhough we stayed for only 1 night, we had a great experience there. The staff was very accomodating to our requests and keen to guide us through the city. The facilities are clean and the room was very comfy. A big plus is that the hotel is very well located close to "el Malecon" and there are a few restaurants and super markets. The parking spot is right in front of the entrance so the staff can see the car.

What I really liked about Barranquilla was that I thought it...

What I really liked about Barranquilla was that I thought it was Colombias best kept secret. It’s developing a lot more and has a lot of partying which I’m not into. I really liked the boardwalk where the Shakira and Sofia Vergara statues are. The people seem very friendly. The Buenavista mall was fun and a must. Overall great city and great people. Definitely worth the visit.

Puerto Colombia has a nice weather to stay in a beach house or private property with a pool near to the beach. Other than that, the municipality is quite small and does not have much infraestructure. I'd recommend two days there.

Barranquilla is a city yearning to comeback.

Barranquilla is a city yearning to comeback. It has a history of ignoring one of their prized resources - the giant Magdalena River. Ongoing development along the Magdalena is changing all that. A completed giant-sized Shakira statute is becoming a big draw for many visitors along the River. And a similar sized Sophia Vergara statue is in progress. Both world famous artist are from Barranquilla. We had some great food during our visit to Colombia. But the absolute best was a restaurant we went to during our two days in Barranquilla - Manuel's (aka Maunel Restaurante). Our party of six focused almost exclusively on sharing seafood and vegetarian dishes, wonderful cocktails, and of course, desserts. My description of any plate in particular would not do it justice. One other highlight of our visit was Elsa Pineres Galeria. In my opinion, the art she displays and sells rivals some of the museum art we saw during our visit to Colombia. It's worth a trip just to stop by and enjoy. And the folks there are very welcoming. The downside of Barranquilla is the traffic and street construction that takes place on multiple parallel streets all at once. This forces traffic to jam into the same cross street to get through town. Interestingly, traffic moves and is entertaining to watch from the safe confines of a large SUV. I compared drivers in Colombia to a colony of bats flying in dense packs using echolocation (horns) to avoid collisions.

    Puerto Colombia is fantastic.

Puerto Colombia is fantastic. The people are gentle, pleasant, and rather laid-back. It is only several kilometers from Barranquilla, the fourth-largest city in Colombia, but it feels like it is a world apart. Some portions of the beach are nicer than others, but all the views are breathtaking. Take some time and talk to the locals while enjoying the beautiful weather and a beer in one of the many small local bars.

    It was a positive surprise!

It was a positive surprise! I loved the rehabilitation of the Magdalena River and the Malecon. Public spaces with restaurants, loved it. The museum of the Carnaval de Barranquilla was very fun! And we ate at Palo de Mango, which had great food. At the hotel we also ate well. It’s a nice place to visit and calm stop between Sta Marta and Cartagena.
