- From $140.40 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 342 reviewsThis place is one of the most romantic and beautiful places in the world. We stayed in one of the tree house rooms and spent several hours just sipping wine, eating cheese, and watching the sunset. Lots and lots to do here. games, excursions, hiking, boating, hot tubs, etc etc. We met the owner and his daughter who were both delightful people with amazing experiences. We wish we would have stayed longer. You could easily spend 3-4 days here and never get bored.Guest review byHinesUnited States

Coihaique is a town of about 60k, so not small, but quaint and not touristy at all. Plenty of good local eateries, grocery stores and whatever else you may need. Lovely rolling hills and the Andes mountains in the distance. Interesting geography and history of the area. We only stayed one night but wish we would've stayed a bit longer to see more.Guest review byRosemarieUnited States - 6.0
Puerto Tranquilo is a "boom" town.
Puerto Tranquilo is a "boom" town. It looks to be experiencing growing pains and the zoning and growth of the town appears to be in the hands of the people of PT. Hopefully they will have the foresight to zone appropriately and grow in an manner that is good for the town as well as the tourism industry. The main attraction appears to be the San Raphael Glaciefr that is retreating at an alarming rate (thank you global warming.) It is what it is.Guest review byJImmie NayUnited States - 2.0

Whole tourist business here revolves around the 12 boat hour trip to the San Rafael glacier. What they do not warn you about is the dreadful three hour karaoke with drunk Chileans on the return journeyGuest review byJohn LindsayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We strongly recommend Chile Chico and the very scenic road between Chile Chico and Puerto Guadal. The road is a bit dangerous, but the scenery is breathtaking. The General Carrera Lake is huge and has scenery with snow capped mountains in the background that one can only dream of, but it is real!Guest review byJOSEPHChile - 8.0
Beautiful little town. Quiet.
Beautiful little town. Quiet. Most everything closed before there posted times. We had a fantastic tour of Isla de Magdelana that I would recommend to everyone. Parque Isla Magdalena was the company. +56 9 84787899. Great family run tour of the Island.Guest review byPruettdaUnited States - 10.0

Coyhaique is a great jump off point to travel the Carretera Austral. We flew into Balmaceda airport, rented a car and then stayed the night in Coyhaique. Generally car rentals are round trip-no one way drop off, so having a central point to return to is key. Get comprehensive insurance! Many sections of the Carretara are gravel/ all weather roads with lots of bumps, pot holes, etc. We needed to make a claim for a dent on this leg of the trip. Although not essential 4 wheel drive for some sections was useful for stability on the road. Coyhaique has lots of grocery stores and specialty shops for getting provisions. We drove north for several days as far as Puerto Raul Marin Balmaceda. Then headed back to Coyhaique stayed the night and headed south for a number of days as far as Puerto Bertrand. Then back to Coyhaique stayed another night and to Balmaceda airport the following day. (The overnight stays were necessary because the drives took many hours.)Guest review byDouglas JamesUnited States - 10.0

Great location to explore the Marble Caves, glaciers, the confluence of the local rivers, the Patagonia National Park. Really one of the most beautiful areas that I have ever visited. So glad to have experienced it before it gets more well known and bigger. Will definitely go back.Guest review byKylieChile - 8.0
A great place by the sea, among fiords.
A great place by the sea, among fiords. Great to start an adventure to Laguna San Rafael glaciers or Puyuhuapi thermae across the beautiful Aysén chanels. The bay itself might be disappointing for nature lovers. Being a fisheries base and port, the coastline is not as clean as it should.Guest review byEduardoChile - 6.0
This hostel is good if the lowest price is your priority.
This hostel is good if the lowest price is your priority. My main complaint is that there was loud noise from the staff and guests well past midnight. Mind you, I'm 66 and they all looked to be under 30.Guest review byJohnCanada - 10.0
The road here is hard off-road.
The road here is hard off-road. The town itself is small, you can get around in an hour. There are places to eat. Grocery stores are tiny, the choice is minimal, and prices are high. A small selection of hotels and very expensive. But there is incredible natural beauty here! And if you are interested in the Marble Caves, then you will have to put up with some inconvenience.Guest review byNinaLatvia
