Interlaken was the “cherry on top” of our European travels. The views were amazing (I’ve never seen 30+ paragliders in the sky…in the ALPs no less!!!), the area was so quaint, the locals friendly; and eating Swiss fondue somehow tastes better from the Alps! Grindelwald is definitely a place to visit and stay if you want to see the mountains up close. It is a comfortable and cozy little town which has cable cars to take you up in the mountain where there are activities like Zip Line and Tobogganing. It is very accessible by Bus and Trains. I did not realize when I booked our hotel that Wengen was reachable by train only. I thought I had made a terrible mistake. But it was the best mistake of my life. We were there the weekend of the cheese festival and that was a great experience. We felt like locals! We stayed at Hotel Jungfraublick and I highly recommend it. Kandersteg is a beautiful place for hiking and outdoor activities. I highly recommend to go to the Oeschenesee, it was one of our favorites on our trip. Wilderswil was a pleasant surprise. a quiet residential community a few kilometers from Interlaken, the area is quiet and friendly. A short bus ride to the main train station and into the city of Interlaken provides access to the rest of the area.
