This is a delightful hotel, cosy and elegant. I instantly received a heartfelt welcome which will stay with me for a long time. I appreciated the dimmer light in the bedroom, comfortable bed and beautiful bedding. Dinner was simply fabulous, and the possibility of ordering smaller portions enabled me to enjoy a main course and dessert. Waking after a good night's sleep (rare for me), I felt as though I was staying at my favourite aunt's instead of a faceless hotel. At breakfast, ingredients were fresh, local and delicious. This apartment was SO NICE.
This apartment was SO NICE. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Parking was included and was right across the street in the garage. We ate at the Kabob place two doors down and the food was great. Herisau is such a quaint little town and so close to St. Gallen and other areas of interest. There is a MIGROS store across the street and was so convenient. There is no interaction with the owners, but the code they left us got us in and was perfectly fine. If you do stay there, just know that the name of the hotel is NOT listed on the building, so we had a little bit of a hard time locating it.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Visiting Santis was the best part of visiting Urnäsch.
Visiting Santis was the best part of visiting Urnäsch. It is a must see. Have awesome views from the summit and also learnt quite a lot about weather and weather measurement. I really enjoyed traditional swiss dishes for my lunch at Santis Terrace Hotel and dinner at Restaurant Lowen in Urnäsch. Urnäsch can be comfortably reached by train from Zurich. There is public transport bus 791 from Urnäsch Bahnhof to Santis Cable Car Station. There are lots of hiking trails in the region. I recommend you to go on the Rondom Appenzoll hike. It is a short easy round trip hike around Appenzell which can be done in around 2.5 hours. The hotel is beautifully modernised with high quality fixtures and fittings. Rooms are spacious and very tasteful. Staff were friendly and spoke several languages.
