- From US$158.52 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.8Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 499 reviewsEverything! We were staying up the road and were extremely unhappy and once I messaged Nexus we were checking in early to our beautiful ocean view room. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were extremely accommodating. This resort has everything in one spot and we’re lucky enough to basically have it all to ourselves during low season. There’s place to relax on the beach or the pool, heaps of restaurants to choose from (some closed due to low season numbers) bars, huge chess board, darts, pool, a wellness spa, kids club, hammocks, literally everything you need. Do keep in mind in low season some things aren’t open but we had the best time and it would be even better during peak season!Guest review byAllisonAustralia
- From US$109.75 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.3Good - What previous guests thought, 749 reviewsWe had lovely time in Damai Beach Resort. Since the receptioninst made a mistake and put into the wrong category of accomodation, we have seen both. Invest into the premium category, you will not regret it. That part of the hotel is a paradise. The standart category is ok but it doesnt even get half way to the experience you get on the top of the hill. There are great pools in the resort and you practically have the beach for yourself.Guest review byKarolinaCzech Republic

This was my first time in Kota Kinabalu.
This was my first time in Kota Kinabalu. I came for a program, but since I arrived earlier, I decided to explore KK and Kundasang. Even though it was a last-minute booking with Wisata Travel Agency, the accommodation and guide they arranged were excellent. ✨ Favourite places: In KK, I enjoyed the city vibes and food around 1Borneo Mall. In Kundasang, the highlights were the fish spa, rabbit farm, Desa Dairy Farm, and of course a stop at Pekan Nabalu — a picturesque spot with breathtaking views of Mount Kinabalu and local stalls selling souvenirs and snacks. 🍴 Where I ate: One memorable stop was trying the famous kepak ayam madu Wak Ali — really delicious! Around KK, it was easy to find food because there are so many choices, from local eateries to restaurants. 🚗 Getting around KK: With a guide from the travel agency, it was very convenient. The city is easy to move around with transport arranged, and going up to Kundasang was smooth with their service. 💑 For young couples: I’d recommend Kundasang as a must — the dairy farm, the mountain views, Pekan Nabalu, and even simple stops like the fish spa and rabbit farm create great memories. KK city itself is lively with shopping, cafes, and seaside views. It’s a good mix of nature and city for couples. Overall, it was a short but meaningful trip, and I’ll remember it as one of the best last-minute adventures I’ve had.Guest review byBARDSAADMalaysia - 10.0

The Borneo Cultures Museum is worth the trip in itself, but in addition there is fabulous food, great festivals, temples, lots of history (the Rajah Brookes), good wildlife, and wonderfully hospitable people. Shopping for locally made curios is worthwhile here. A short hop from Kuala Lumpur and a real sense of the diversity that exists in Malaysia at a much lower cost than other parts of Malaysia.Guest review byRaniUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Miri is great shopping at places like Bintang Megamall, Boulevard and Permaisuri Mall. great places to eat in Miri and everytime we go to miri we go to 🍽️ Dapur Ria Nasi Lemak Located in Pelita Commercial Centre, this spot is known for its delicious and affordable nasi lemak—perfect for breakfast. Miri also have full of great massage and spa spots that cater to every kind of relaxation need,Guest review byNoraidah TajudinBrunei Darussalam - 8.0
Important and interesting history related to the British...
Important and interesting history related to the British influence for town development; especially the story that unfolded and is memorialized about the war years and the sad fate of many Aust & Brit POW's and the of local Sabah supporters and underground. The history of extensive logging and use of timber was of professional interest to me as a forester. The brutal destruction of the timber buildings by the Japanese military was bad - and the gradual rebuild over following 10 -20 years is remarkable. Its notablel that the central city is declining due to lack of regular upgrade and maintenance, and influx of certain migrant groups and housing needs. Also notable that commercial business and new shops have expanded out into modernized precincts away from town centre. Proximity to Sepolik rainforest reserve and other wildlife conservation parks is great for travellers to eastern Sabah. Local malaysian people are friendly and easy to relat to in the main.Guest review byPeterAustralia - 8.0
Kundasang is truly a gem in Sabah!
Kundasang is truly a gem in Sabah! Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and cool, refreshing air, it’s the perfect destination for a peaceful getaway with family. The scenic drive up is already a treat, and once you arrive, the lush greenery and serene atmosphere make it feel like a world away from the city. We enjoyed exploring local attractions like the Desa Dairy Farm, the Alpaca Club, the vegetable markets, and the beautiful gardens. The area is also rich in culture and history, with nearby memorial sites and traditional food experiences. One of the highlights was staying at a cozy homestay near Selera Kebun, where we got to enjoy authentic dishes like nasi linopot and gulai lemak cili padi rusa salai—a must-try for food lovers! Whether you're looking to relax, reconnect with nature, or enjoy local flavors, Kundasang offers a memorable experience for all ages.Guest review byZ0272Malaysia - 6.0

The place is not for everybody, very poor people, small homeless children playing and begging around, however I enjoyed the local experience. There is nothing to do here so if you are going for diving you are ok or for an island hopping tour that was very nice snorkelling.Guest review bySkabaCzech Republic - 10.0
Combination of classic/old town and modern living.
Combination of classic/old town and modern living. The best thing in Sibu for me is the variety of food that you can have with cheap price! Of course my favorite is the Kampua Mee. If you love shopping, there's lot of shops where you can buy things for low price. But of course, the Sibu Night Market is the most attractive place for me.Guest review byMaxelleMalaysia - 8.0
Bintulu town is a great place to visit.
Bintulu town is a great place to visit. Been to the local beach in the evening after the visit to the Tumbina park. Few good malls we visited n did a bit shopping. Nice restaurants around town n not difficult to find them while driving around. Would like to stay at Similajau National Park once the park is open for overnight stay.Guest review byAmirulMalaysia - 4.0

Only a 20 minute ride from Sandakan Airport so it’s worthwhile checking out for the day. There is only about 1 whole days worth of activities in the area I.e. the Orangutan Center, the Sun Bear center and then the rainforest discovery Center. I probably wouldn’t recommend more than 1 day in this area unless you want to do some of the extensive forest and mangrove walls that are at the rainforest discovery Center - but they’re more for the dry season rather than the rainy season. I strongly do NOT recommend the probiscus sanctuary back in Sandakan as it’s more of a single species zoo only - it’s much better to get out to the nearby Kandabangan River AreaGuest review byLukeSilviaComboUnited Kingdom
