Country location with a city feel. Great cafes and restaurants in both Albury and Wodonga. High end shopping centre. Short drive to wineries and and tourist towns like Beechworth, Bright and Yarrawonga. When ever I am in Albury I always stock up on great produce at Harris’s Farm Markets. Very pretty town quite an interesting history. Great cafes but the night life is about what you would expect. Fantastic art gallery near the river and an arts centre as well. Everything you could need in terms of shopping. Lots of cool day trips on offer as well. I would visit again but always in spring, never go in winter or summer! Really enjoyed our hour long cruise on the “Canberra” Paddle Steamer. The American Hotel was a lovely experience with live music and great food. Lots of fantastic places to eat, any time of the day. I come up for the Echuca blues Festival but prefer to stay in Moama its a nice quiet Town and only a few Klm to Echuca, has changed a lot since the 70s. About $20.00 for a cab into Echuca. Should have a bus running constant for the Blues fes as parking can be a nightmare. The Blues bus runs on the Saturday only which I think is free. Wodonga is the more upmarket side of the NSW/Victoria border. It lacks much in the way of heritage, with only the old railway station (now a trendy cafe area) as any real form of architecture. Actually, there is not much in Mulwalla except a lot of accommodation, mainly around the Lake. The main town, Yarrawonga, is on the Victorian side of the bridge connecting the two. The main activities in the area centre around the fresh water lake: fishing, swimming, canoeing, water skiing. Corowa has a great park for the kids and lots of lovely walking paths alongside the river and other places. The golf club has a cinema with up-to-date movies and snack options, very comfortable seating.
