I had a wonderful experience at Hotel Protea Angola. The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. I really, really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I had a great room facing the ocean with a balcony. You could see a beautiful sunset from my room every night. There was a really nice pool area with lounge chairs and umbrellas. The sea was about 50 metres away. There was a bit of rubbish around so I didn't swim in it. The hotel had a good breakfast. It's a bit far away from things but it's in a very local area. The atmosphere at night with the locals was great. The man who ran the bar about 50 metres from the hotel was very friendly. The people at the bar very nice too. There was not much English spoken but the locals made me feel very welcome. There's was a couple of other small bars and eating places nearby too. I also felt very safe in the area.

    The Hotel is fantastic clean, rooms big, with comfortable bed and big wardrobe. The breakfast is amazing. In addition to the continental breakfast is possibile to eat special local dishes. The use of the swimming pool and the close bar is free. The personnel in service is very kind. The Hotel is in the heart of Luanda very close to the marginal and the mall "Shopping Fortaleza". A special thank to Mrs Azevedo that helped me due to a flight cancellation. Congratulation to all the staff.

    Beautiful city and very clean in some parts.

    Beautiful city and very clean in some parts. Other parts are really filthy with lots of rubbish. The people are friendly, the food isn't bad; sometimes too salty and not spicy enough. The weather is wonderful, sunny but cool. The traffic is unbearable. There are mosquitoes, so come prepared. It's a place I would visit again.

    Visa or Mastercard is not widely accepted at all places. and some shops only take Cash but does not have change for larger notes that the ATM's give you. the Beach front restaurants mostly do take Visa/Mastercard and most CBD hotels. but the further you stay/travel outside Luanda most places only take cash(small notes) and local bank cards.
