With inner courtyard views, this accommodation provides a patio. The accommodation offers a hot tub, free WiFi and family rooms. Such an amazing Cave hotel. the people are friendly. The room was spacious, with high ceilings. the furniture and amenities all on point. the bed and sleep-sofa both were comfortable, while still also looking like a cave <3 The room also comes with 2 giant moisture guards that keep the room nice. they make noise but can be switched off when going to sleep. Be sure to expect some humidity as it is a cave, this is not a negative point to me as it is logical but it appears not everyone was prepared for it haha You order breakfast the day before. It is then delivered to the room in the morning at the time you choose. The selection was good and the food lovely. on a final note, the entire city and also the hotel is surrounded by slopes and stairs. Wear some good shoes and take your time to get your luggage to and from the place you are staying. There is a manned parking garage near the hotel on the Via Vena (Parcheggio Communbale Via Vena) (few min walk) which costs 20 euro's a day. good price!

The property features city and inner courtyard views, and is 500 metres from Palombaro Lungo. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Friendly staff, very good location, also close to the parking spot. The room, breakfast and basically everything was excellent!

Local points of interest like MUSMA Museum and Church of San Giovanni Battista are reachable within 400 metres and a 1-minute walk, respectively. When I arrived I was greeted by Raffaele and given lots of tips and lots of information on where eat, visit and some history of Matera. My room was spacious and comfortable with a great bathroom too. Location was perfect, easy access from the train and to all there was to see in this magnificent city. Breakfast each morning was delicious homemade sweet and savoury food. The communication before arriving and while I was there was fantastic. I felt like I had been welcomed into a family home.

Set next to the Parco della Murgia Natural Reserve, the property is 50 km from the Ionian Sea. This was a fantastic hotel. The staff are amazing. The rooms are clean and lovely. The breakfast was delicious. Honestly every detail was perfection.

Our experience at Fra i Sassi was absolutely unforgettable. Our room was beautiful and full of character — the bathroom was set directly in the cave, which gave it such a unique and authentic touch. One of the highlights was definitely the view: right from our window we had a breathtaking panorama of Matera, perfect at any time of day. The location couldn’t have been better. We had no issues at all with our luggage, and the direct shuttle to the hotel made arrival super easy. Once there, we were within walking distance of everything — it’s perfectly situated to explore the Sassi and the historic center. What really made the difference was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They gave us excellent recommendations for food and activities, helped with reservations, and made us feel completely at home. A big plus for us: we were traveling with our dog and everything went smoothly. And breakfast? Just as amazing as everything else — fresh, local, and delicious.
