Absolutely fantastic a friendly staff, the best meal in all our Sri Lankas accommodation ever!

This guesthouse, run by a couple, is about 1 km from the bus station. After checking in, I learned they have two separate buildings with rooms. The newer one looks decent, but I stayed in the older one. It’s very basic and somewhat clean, but the room is quite dated. There’s no Wi-Fi, the room is warm and hot without air conditioning, and the shower only has cold water. The electric fan is noisy, and sometimes bugs come into the room from outside. They provide mosquito coils, though. For such a low price, this is probably what you get. The couple is friendly and kind, clearly good people. They even helped me receive my courier delivery.

We had such a nice time at Lahiru's place. We particularly enjoyed the delicious home cooked food, how comfortable and at home we were made to feel and the lush, green surroundings.

I liked many things about Nuga Retreat. First of all, the beautiful, natural surroundings with mountain views created a unique atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped, providing convenience, and the outdoor pool was a great place to unwind. I also really appreciated the friendly and helpful staff who truly made an effort to ensure our stay was enjoyable.

Staying at Ferndale was an extraordinary experience, ideal for those who appreciate peace and nature. While the retreat is somewhat remote, the journey is absolutely worth it and it adds to the experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the very friendly and attentive staff. Everything at Ferndale is designed to offer a personal and intimate experience. The small-scale setting and personalized service make the stay truly unique. Ferndale’s philosophy is rooted in nature and respect for the ecosystem. It is a luxury hotel where sustainability and eco-friendliness take top priority. All food is locally and organically sourced, adding to the authenticity of the experience. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner, who shared his vision with great passion and pride, making us appreciate the concept even more. The retreat is located in the breathtaking Knuckles Mountain Range, near Kandy. The untouched nature makes it a perfect destination for stunning hikes, which are thoughtfully organized by the team. Along the trails, you can discover hidden waterfalls and encounter unique endemic wildlife. Lastly, we must highlight the outstanding service and incredible food. The staff goes the extra mile to make your stay unforgettable. The meals are amazing because of the freshness of the ingredients and the dedication put into every dish. Make sure to try the icecream :-)! For anyone who loves nature, tranquility, and warm, personal hospitality, we can wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Nice little two bedroom villa! Recently built. It was clean and the host family were just next door to help with anything we needed. They took us to a Lake where we could swim and the temple with the giant Buda. We originally only planned this place for a stop over on our way more inland to break up a long drive but we were pleasantly surprised with how nice the area was and how many things that were to do around

We stayed in one of the front rooms, and really enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking out at the mountains. Rawana provided amazing service, very attentive, we had Sri Lankan breakfasts lunches and dinners cooked by his wife which were so delicious- genuinely some of the best food we've had so far. Rawana also took us in his the Tuk Tuk to see the views of lakegala, guided us on a hike to diyakerella Ella falls, and drove us to the sliding rock swimming spot even though it was raining the whole time (4-5h)! Their 3yo son was also very sweet to hang out with. In terms of prices he charged us 10 000 for the Tuk Tuk and guide, and I think we paid 7-8000 for two dinners and a lunch for two. The rooms and shared bathroom were basic, clean and comfortable, the beds are a little hard, and there are no sealed windows (but we didn't have any issues with bugs) but none of that is a problem, it's in the middle of a jungle! Definitely recommend!
