The owners Silvana and John, as well as the staff always gave five star service. My wife who was not feeling well, was attended to by Silvana and she even had medication‘s flown in for the next day. The property is sensational from the lush landscape to the well appointed cave like rooms were enchanting. I have dove and snorkel in many places around the world. Rock Waters marine preserve right off their property equal. The best I have ever been to consider considering cuisine can be a challenge on Tanna Rock water chefs presented every single meal that was absolutely delicious. I cannot say enough about Rock Water resort. Thank you again Jon and Silvana.

Without her prompt answer and exact suggestion and detailed information to every question I raised, I wouldn’t have made this volcano tour realized. Thank you Matha, and your team! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Tanna. Susie and Morris + family were great hosts super friendly and always arranging activities for us to do. The volcano view is amazing especially at sunrise. The place was kept clean and organised, but manage your expectations as it is a no-thrills accommodation (wood hut, bed with mosquito net, cold shower etc). Susie’s meals were filling (1000vt lunch and 1200vt dinner). Communication beforehand was also good despite the remote location. Though I personally had internet signal the whole time when there. Come prepared with power banks charged (the solar power was unreliable on cloudy/rainy days). Or take advantage to disconnect! Be aware the costs add up once you’re there so plan your cash well before arriving! - Volcano entrance + return transfer 11750vt. - Traditional village (really worth it!) - 2000vt. - Local (small) waterfall and volcanic ash exfoliation - 1000vt. - John Frum Village (Friday nights, really recommend!) - 2000vt return. Airport transfer 1 way is 2500vt pp (or 5000vt if you’re the only one). It takes almost 2h on the back of a jeep and is half road, half super off-road 4x4 dirt track adventure! It’s fun but bring a plastic poncho for if it rains! They’ll stop briefly at a mini market for supplies (get bottles water for your whole stay!). Overall, we had a lovely stay and would love to return one day, with some forward planning and managing expectations for remote places it’s a great option to explore Tanna’s most unique attractions and cultures.

Charlie is a very good host , knows everyone on the island and can arrange , tours , flights to accomodate any of your needs . He and his family were so hospitable , it was the highlight of my stay on Tanna to stay with them , they have a beautiful beach just 10min walk which the village children love to play in , the water is crystal clear . I love the hut it’s a tradition style and the food was beautiful , organic and fresh which his wife makes over traditional wood fire . I highly recommend staying with Charlie and using his tours . Not to forget Tom his driver who knows his stuff when it comes to four wheel driving through the volcanic ash plains and rivers to get to the top of the volcano . ( Charlie is a math teacher at the village school , supplies are limited on the island so recommend brining some stationary , pens , crayons , books ect )

The hospitality of Philip, Susan and their sons was absolutely incredible. They were so gracious with their time without being over bearing on your privacy. This is the spot to stay when checking out the volcano side of Tanna. You will have everything you need to see the vanuatu culture from the perfect location. For reasonable rates, the hosts will take care of any other logistic you need. -Set up the 2 hour car ride to and from the airport. -Local recipe dinners by Susan and she’s a great cook. I believe they offered lunch as well but I was going on these great adventures they offer to guide you through: -A local village that will show you dances and rituals of their indigenous culture -A hot spring heated river that flows into the ocean overlooking the volcano -And of course, the hike to the rim of the volcano. I had so much time to chat with the family and they are all so kind. I don’t leave reviews, I was very compelled on this one. Stay in this treehouse. Friendly reminder to grab cash and break it down in Port Vila or at the market in Tanna.
